Frank's/Tabasco are really great on some things.

But what are some good hot sauces when you just want chili flavor without the vinegar?

Ozfag here.

Having heard a lot about them on /ck/ I have recently been trying a whole bunch of American hot sauces to determine for myself which ones are the best.

After going through all the typical ones like Franks, Louisiana and Valentina I have been really surprised at how little heat they have. All of them are so dominated by vinegar that you can barely taste anything else. I want my hot sauce to be hot, not just red vinegar.

Thus I have to say that for me, its Sriracha all the way. It might not be the spiciest but its a fuck tonne spicier than American ones and isn't overpowered by vinegar.

I go for taste. Obviously these are far from the hottest but they actually taste good. Heat without taste is simply a novelty.

this one, it's amazingly tasty although i sort of wish it wasn't as hot as it is because i can't use it as much as i want

seriously? sriracha isn't hot at all, pretty much the same as tabasco and imo it tastes awful.

>> No.6465787

I grow my own chilies so I also make my own hotsauce. Just made a batch of Naga hotsauce a few days ago, pretty hot but still good

it literally tastes like "spicy" ketchup. too sweet, too thick, and just overall meh tier. franks is superior

well, Texas Pete or crystal, maybe Tabasco. I like spice and heat, but not so much it makes my inner ears burn and cannot taste food. To me, that defeats the porpose or porpose or idea. I like hot dogs, but I need not eat fifty to enjoy them.

>> No.6467120

Despite all the hate Srirarcha gets around here, it's my favourite. I have never tried the mainstream one (the one with a rooster on the bottle), only the flying goose brand, so that might be why.

I have been using this lately. Hobokin Eddie hot sauce. I met the guy and bought it. At first I was unsure about it, but it is really pretty good. It has a pretty dominant tomato ketchup aspect to it, but with a good typical hot sauce flavor, with some curry powder flavor backing it all up. It is good with eggs and chicken cutlets.

Sirracha, probably spelled wrong.

Franks- best sauce for dem der chicken
Texas Pete- best sauce for hash browns
sriacha- its so sweet, good for eggs and asian food
Chalula- best all around winner, good on anything you would want spicier

honorable mention to Datil-do-it devil drops a carrot based hotsauce with datil pepper. more of a tabasco sort of sauce, but delightful.
