a very played out sandwich. definitely yesterdays news!!!

Tasty, but not filling. A cap as a topping to a veggie burger (or a traditional burger if you happen to not be a woman/homo) is pretty good, though.

>> No.6420559

Mushrooms are toppings, not a burger.

>> No.6420575

I would recommend cutting a few slits on the top of the mushroom's cap.

I find that the skin on top gets really tough after being cooked, and just trying to bite into a portobello burger will just drag everything along with what you've bit.

Tastes alright though.

Well, theyve been around forever, but i like them. There's aa great burger place here t h at makes a great one, but they also make a great eggplant burger and a great pastrami burger and a great kobe burger, so i don't get the portobello burger that often.

Wait a minute... i was reading another thread and the guy said there was a thread about people using a portobello mushroom cap as a PATTY and then it hit my like a 40 pound semi truck... That's what you're talking about right?

hmm... perhaps not such a played out soundwitch after all. Pretty Cool if you ask me, perhaps a gimmick perhaps not i must try one and furthwich!

>> No.6420631

they can be watery and insipid and fucking enrobed in too much cheese, but when they're good i honestly enjoy them about 110% as much as a burger.

That looks like it would be great with a half pound burger patty smashed in there

I doubt it.

This. All of this. It ain't a burger unless it involves ground beef... and if you allow your tongue and belly to mentally photoshop it in there, that looks fucking fantastic. Taken as is, it leaves one slightly angry and puzzled.

Two problems with that sport, technically on a burger all you get is the charred taste and the toppings, you know, the veggies.

So if you're going to eat a burger anyway, why not just throw out the middle man and toss the patty away.

This mushroom is a fine substitute.

I really like them a lot but with vegetarian burgers I never feel like I'm eating a burger, more just like a sandwich.

Also, if you de-gill and skin the mushroom you're ruining the flavour and shouldn't be anywhere near mushrooms.

Amazing, has to be with grilled halloumi as well though (or however the fuck you spell it)

I love mushrooms, but I can never bring myself to order/make one of these because when i want a burger, I want meat.

>> No.6423039

Underrated post, I really like the taste of mushrooms but when I grill them the top bit really gets tough, I get that slicing it abit helps but I just get a mushroom with tough little pieces on top. I notice they're alright if I deep fry em, but grilling tends to always be a problem, either they are tough or undercooked and taste like shit. /ck/ pls help.

>> No.6423248

I'd rather use portobello caps as the "bun" of the burger, instead of the filling. I wonder if there's a good way to cook them without getting the tops too greasy/dirty.

>> No.6424081

>>6422892

no you just don't actually get it in most places. plus kobe is wasted on burgers because the distribution and quantity of fat is under your control anyway.
