I don't know anyone who doesn't like pizza, but I know quite a few who don't like pizza from chain joints. And I can accept that. Shit like Domino's, Papa John's and Pizza Hut is terrible.

I never understood why anyone would automatically label something as "gross" when it's a common food.

That's awful logic. Most people don't care about whether a product is really good or bad. They don't put that much thought into their decisions. They buy things designed for the widest possible appeal, which generally means inoffensive products that will live up to a modest set of minimum expectations.

Mass market success is not an indicator of quality product. It just means you've become the default for whatever category you represent. Companies like Kraft, General Mills, Tyson and the like do not make good food. They make food an unthinking customer will choose by default. Same goes for every chain restaurant.

Its not that I would call pizza gross(except deep dish), just that I dont like it. I have given pizza many chances and dont find the bready flavor appealing.

I would eat pizza if I was hungry and/or it was free, but I wouldnt pay for it

I fucking hated pizza forever, back in the day it was gross and oily with disgusting stringy tasteless cheese tomato sauce super sweet and under proofed dough like eating packing material.

Perhaps, but sometimes the bread is good, sometimes it's horrible. Same goes for the sauce. And holy shit does the quality of the cheese (and temperature of the oven) make a fucking difference. I could got he rest of my life without eating chain pizza again, no problem. The good stuff I would miss, however.

I think you're intentionally playing dumb here, trying to make that case that quality of ingredients doesn't make a huge difference in a dish this simple.
