Sitting time is dependent on the herb; some benefit from longer extractions—but generally speaking, you're looking at at least a one or two week time frame.

It works, you just have to make sure you decarboxylize the herb before hand, same with glycerin, then put in mason jar, cover with alc/glycerin and soak for a month or so, or heat on a hotplate at around 120 for 24 hrs or so. Then strain with a piece of cheesecloth so you can squeeze all the goodness out. For other herbs you can skip the decarb step but otherwise use the same procedure.
