My family is Polish, when my dad and uncles get together we eat a ton of sourkraut, keilbasa, and horseradish. Then we drink beer and play rummy and fart for hours. Good times.

Actual Polfag here. For a long time I used to hate Polish food. It's not very glamorous, most is very plain and pretty bland to be honest. I fell in love with Asian food here in Canada. But as I aged I've started to enjoy the cabbage and the sausages a lot more.

Breakfasts are for the most part very simple. The only fried food you would see is scrambled eggs which are probably the most common breakfast item. They're usually fried with sausage and onions or topped with green onions. Another popular cooked item is something like a Vienna sausage, or wiener. Breakfast is always served with bread or buns that were bought early in the morning. If you're lucky it's with savory croissants (pic related). When I was a child tea was always made for everyone but lately when I visit my family everyone just drinks coffee.

And of course I should mention that most people just eat a toast or quick sandwich for breakfast. But the older generations, like my grandparents, used to eat dumplings in boiled milk (kluski na mleku)

States as in USA? No, no, this is in Paraná, somewhere in South America. This is usually eaten inside golabki in Polish colonies in the countryside.

However, I think you might find something similar to "our" dish in Texas, or maybe northern Mexico.

The only Polish dish I've had that was really interesting was Zurek, it's a sour soup that's surprisingly good. Surprising, because the base of the sour stock is made by letting old bread and garlic rot in a jar of water for a few days - sounds horrible, tastes wonderful.
