By far the greatest grocery chain

Yes, but they make up for it with customer service and quality groceries

Yesterday I asked if they had pork roll (there was none on the shelves) and the manager found me one in the back

9/10 sandwiches too. Might get myself an Italian for lunch

Publix is awful. The meat and produce suck and the prices are too high for what is basically kroger. The only good part is the bakery.

>Everybody likes Trader Joes
Not true. I'm not a fan for a number of reasons:
- Most of what they sell is snacks and convenience foods I don't buy
- Size of store too large for me; I prefer small shops
- Many items there are packaged in inconvenient sizes for me, and there's too much packaging in general
- The Trader Joe's branded everything creeps me out
- The TJ stores near me all have long lines, and I'd rather not wait in line if I can help it.

My theory was that Trader Joe's is the supermarket for people who don't really cook, instead they live off snacks and heat and eat meals. There are some deals there, to be sure, but for me it's not worth wandering around a crowded store for 20 minutes to find them. I find it a frustrating place to shop.

Not sure if serious. Trader Joes is pretty small. Granted it's not as small as a corner convenience store, but it most certainly not a supermarket.

Or like joining a cult. It's creepy. All the feel-good messages plastered in a Whole Foods have the same effect on me. I'm buying fucking groceries, not looking for affirmation or an identity. I'm happy with my lifestyle, and am not looking for a new one at the grocery store.

I honestly don't know the appeal of that place. At least with Whole Foods, they pretend to be healthier. With Trader Joe's, it's just expensive and there are no options.

I haven't tried their sardines and I sure as shit am not going to drive there for sardines. The majority of their crap is store brand quality at a ridiculous markup.

>Trader Joes is pretty small.
I do most of my shopping at little neighborhood places: the greengrocer's, the wine shop, the Chinese shop, the butcher, the fish store, the Italian Pork Store, the Middle Eastern store... I only hit the supermarket once in a while. Stores the size of Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or a typical upscale suburban supermarket are just too damned big for me. I don't enjoy the experience if I have to push a cart around.

I went to a WalMart a couple times and just couldn't fucking do it.

It's expensive but I could walk around in a fresh market all day. They're so dark and cold and play classical music and just cosy in general.

It had good groceries, but like every place in Florida, the AC is blasted to high hell and every building you enter is like 40 F. Fuck that, way too polarizing to walk in 99 f to freezing balls cold

This.
I'm the same way. I can't do the big giant stores. I haven't stepped foot in a Walmart in 6 years. I unfortunately had to run into a Target this holiday season to pick up a specific thing, and it was pure HELL. Goddamn, I hate Target. I try to do all my shopping a local businesses; the Indian market, the Asian market, the Middle Eastern market, the Ukranian produce market, the Russian market, the farmer's market, etc. etc. When I need to stock up on paper products or cleaners, etc, I go to either Grocery Outlet or the 99 cent store, both of which give me the heebiejeebies, but not as bad as Walmart, Target, Safeway, etc. etc.
