I agree, the flour is better for burritos and corn tortillas are better for tacos.

I just did a side by side comparison in the nutritional value between the two...and I am surprised that corn is healthier overall. There is more protein in flour tortillas, and more calories. Corn has less calories, fat, carbs, and ingredients overall.

If you weren't so quick to be a little ninny...look how it reads. The first two qualities are MORE in corn tortillas. More protein, more calories. The last four qualities have LESS calories, fat, carbs and ingredients. No on said the protein is less healthy. I stated what makes corn more healthy as a whole.

You people that things so literally online need better social skills...you can practice on real people if you get off the internet, ya know.

mexican-american here

flour tortilla is a northen mexico thing only. go to mexico city (any central area) and ask for a flour taco/burrito and they'll be "wat". That said they have their places. I myself prefer to have carne asada on a flour tortilla. But I prefer to have carnitas, al pastor and barbacoa on corn.

Nutrition wise, corn would be the way to go without a doubt. traditional four tortillas are made with lard or shortening and white flour. corn is whole grain maize, salt, and maybe a bit of lime.

The microwaving is pure savagery, but I use flour for my enchiladas too, they're just easier to work with, it's less of a hassle. I use corn for tacos, chorizo and eggs

It is hard to find fajita sized flour tortillas, though.

>> No.6068847

the lime is hydrated lime, not the citrus fruit. It is used to plump the corn ( nixtamalization , or convert it into hominy ) . It is then rinsed well.

In 20 plus years I never ate a good corn tortilla while living in AZ. In Mexico I discovered the wonder that is a fresh corn tortilla. 10 minutes after they are made they go from amazing to meh. Factory corn tortillas are awful.

>> No.6071189

>>6071187

Most mexicans eat factory corn tortillas, silly. The difference is they are not complete retards about it and actually warm them up, which makes them more resilient.

Unless you were in some mountain village where older people don't even speak spanish, if you ate a tortilla in mexico it was probably from a factory, same as here.
