Has anybody here ever had real marshmallows? Are they good? I stumbled across this website:

http://www.anorganicwife.com/2013/01/recipe-real-deal-marshmallows.html

And now I really want to try them

Tried it at a natural candy. Isnt that great due to previous expectation of marshmellows

>> No.5980552

Yes they are good. I've made my own for a chocolate s'more cake and I've flavored them with mint extract and folded them into chocolate ice cream.

Yes.
It's good but not the same. It has more a texture halfway between Turkish delight and soft nougat.

Mine were fluffy as fuck and almost the same as store bought. But it was a "non-traditional" recipe that included a couple egg whites. It was Gale Gand's recipe

I have no idea what a traditional or non-traditional recipe might be but I know that it was made with egg whites and gelatin.

I haven't been sick in years. Is it true that eating marshmallow's soothe sore throats?

I had some that the Kerfluffles lady did before her kitchen burned down. They were pretty damn good, and I hate store-bought marshmallows.

Not the same as all fake marshmallows? Go figure.

Most common marshmallow recipes don't use egg white, it's just a whipped gelatin syrup foam

Last time I tried to make homemade marshmallows, my troubles started with mistaking cornmeal for cornstarch and ended with destroying my mixer as marshmallow creeped up the beaters and into the motors and managing to get marshmallow goo stuck to the walls and cieling.

I have never tried to make marshmallow again

Wow, I wish I could have seen that. Sounds like an I Love Lucy episode.

I've made homemade before, big difference. I use maple syrup instead of honey though, I might try honey this time.

I like to make a big batch of mallows and use them in some rice crispy bars.

are you the guy who used tarter sauce instead of cream of tartar?

No; this was something I did as a kid, I think after I saw it on Good Eats.

>> No.5981353

my mom used to make them a lot after they were featured in martha stewart magazine

they're nice. I really like them. they're really squishy and fluffy when you roll them in powdered sugar, like squeezing a makeup sponge. as for taste, it really depends. if you just use vanilla and sugar, they'll taste like vanilla and sugar. my friend made earl grey flavored ones; those were amazing.

not any marshmallows you could get at the store. if you grow your own mallow root, that's a different story.

I'm so glad you posted that. I'm wheezing I'm laughing so hard. Creamy tartar.
