>real maple syrup

is that kind of like "specialty cheese"?

when I was your age, when talking about pancakes, it was just syrup. the "maple" part was assumed.

later we had to start saying "maple syrup", and now this.

what has this world come to.

1) there's more than one kind of syrup, assuming maple is dumb.
2) maple-flavoured table syrup is just called maple syrup (except in quebec, they call it telephone-pole syrup), same as margarine is just called butter.

this anon understands.

first step is organic, Now before you trolls magically know that someone said organic in this thread and come to try and support monsanto and everything, I mentioned it because like anon said, the quality really matters with this.

you are more likely to get a maple syrup you can actually taste a difference in if you buy a Darker grade, like grade B and organic., I don't know if they sell grade C anywhere. but you can get the organic grade B at wholefoods.

you might not assume this but you do need to refrigerate after opening it because I have had mold grow inside before. it even says on the bottle often times to refrigerate.

you don't want to buy any light syrup because you are getting ripped off. you don't want to buy a small yet very expensive bottle because again, rip off.

you want to get a very dark one that if even possible you can smell very strongly like a smoky oaky smell with alot of sweet tones (most are sealed in the store, maybe you find samples or look it up online for reviews. )

buying in bulk might save you some money though, and be aware you are essentially buying strong liquid sugar from a tree.

alot of science hippies use it with baking soda to cure cancer or something.

Organic just means carbon

Also when saying "maple syrup" you need to specify real 100% authentic maple syrup. Otherwise maybe you mean brown corn syrup sold under the "authentic maple" brand. The FDA is very clear on this, it shocks me that gullible consumers would believe that "maple" means it came from an actual maple tree. Sheeple are so gullible.

Living in MN I just aim for something local. Since most syrup is produced in Canada, it's nice to get something from my state.

>>5641397
This bottle is reminiscent of what I'm talking about. Simple label, place of origin, grade.

I'm from NH though and only had it whenever we went WAY north into the mountains.

Real maple syrup is good, but last time I had it I only used it once on pancakes. It was way better to just sip occasionally and savor the pure flavor. People who have never had real syrup would probably hate it. I know as a kid I was disappointed to find it wasn't nearly as sweet as Mrs.Butterworth's.

OP, where do you live? Anywhere north enough where you may be able to find local syrup? Canada syrup is fine, and online shipping may be your friend in your time of need if you live south of the Mason-Dixon line.
