Any idea what you can mix cheap, sour, low-quality wine with to make it not taste like shit?
(I mostly drink red or rose, though white is good too)

just learn to like cabernet sauvignon, liberty creek, crane lake, and Livingston all make reds that are not horrible for super cheap.

Just save up and buy Franzia every now and then. How poor are we talking? One of my favorite rieslings is 7.49 a bottle and it is tasteee.

I did half rose half vodka once, it tasted nice but the hangover was not worth it.

Make a Calimucho, half and half shitty red wine and cola. Delicious summer beverage, beware dull headaches and disgusting overconsumption of sugar.

Btw OP, how much costs a bottle of real French red wine in the US (I supposed you live there)? Like, a Côte-rôtie or a Château Neuf du Pape.

Depends on the producer obviously, but Cote Rotie starts at around $50, and CdP starts at $30.

Damned. I can get a good CR for 25€ (33$) and a CdP for 15€ (20$). I need to start an import business...

Add lead acetate to it, it'll make it taste sweeter without actually changing the calories.

You make it by boiling vinegar with a couple pieces of lead in it.

I was refering to the US tax system, importing a bottle of wine costs something like 2.5USD/bottle (depending of the state, for a 20$ bottle), which gives me 7.5$/bottle sold at 30$ (25% margin, that's very nice).

To a certain degree. But the ship costs the same whether you're importing 5 cases or 5000. It's likely impossible (esp in a place like the Rhone) to find worthwhile producers who (a) don't have US distribution; and (b) are making enough quality wine to fill said ships.
You could dig around in "undiscovered" areas like Jura, Savoie, or the Southwest - but then you'd need to educate the consumer about these 'weird' new grapes. Education doesn't come free - goodbye more margin!
And then finger's crossed that you don't get stuck with whites or roses past Sept - or they'll have to be severely discounted. And what happens in a bad weather year in France? Do you continue to bring in lesser quality wines to the States that you know will sell poorly; or do you take a year off (because you can)?
It's a messy business - not nearly as glamorous as you ever hope it is.

and to answer OP,
Sangria's the obvious answer - but if you can't afford alcohol, you likely can't afford fruit or juice either.
I'd suggest just spending your booze money on a doctor and pharmacy's copay and get xanax prescribed. Seems like the most affordable buzz.

$25 will get you a great bottle of St Joseph, $20 for a Crozes, $15 for amazing declassified Northern Rhone syrah.
