ITT: God tier fruits

Just had my first cherimoya today. It was the single greatest experience of my life. It was even better than sex (i've never had sex but if i did i cant imagine it being as good as eating a cherimoya). Cherimoyas are as expensive as hell though. But when you bite into one you will know where that extra money went. Just set aside some money that you would normally piss away on cigarettes, weed or alcohol and buy yourself a cherimoya. You're gonna like the way they taste. I guarantee it.

A word of caution: don't eat the seeds. I heard they're poisonous. Luckily the seeds are huge and not easy to swallow by accident.

I think that less water causes the flavors of the fruit to condense resulting in a higher concentrated flavor. This is why jalapenos from mexico are, some times, 10 times hotter than american ones. Less water = more flavor.

indian food is pretty different from western food in its style of preparation - lots of toasting, grinding, sauteing of spices to change/bring out their taste, and is a lot of work - in india we usually have servants to help us.

honestly i have been cooking since i was a child, and been trained by my mom, and i basically only mastered my ethnic cuisine. a lot of the difficulty comes from the ingredients changing, the languages changing and the fact that most indians learn from parents.

also most ingredients can be found at indian markets, and there are a lot of them, although once you make the investment in all the required spices and learn what they all do (there's like 10 'base' ingredients used really often and a few dozen others that show up now and then), its not so bad. maybe easiest way is to find an indian person and help them cook, and borrow spices :)

Ugni are amazing; they are grown around the bay, I are some in rural Marin.

Basically think a pineapple-strawberry with that guava-myrtle odor and "smokeyness"

I have grown Peruvian gooseberry (Incaberry), Ugni, Feijoa, pomergranate, and babaco (think a giant papaya that doesn't taste like one).

I mean yeah you'll get a return in a few years but most folks can't grow these fruits north of say a zone 7 climate zone and even then in zone 9b where I am from things can be a hassle to care for because either its too cold, hot or dry

shit, we had maybe 6 trees of these and ate bucket loads of them each year, stewing and preserving the ones we couldn't fit into our mouths

There's these seeds or pods inside. You take those out and eat the pink flesh.

They are similar to the sugar apple. In fact they are from the same family.

other exotic fruit i've had where from people i've known that grew them, or bought them from expensive places that i could not afford.
