there's no such thing as an authentic anything, unless it's a highly systematized recipe like most Japanese food where there's really only one way to make it. if there's any variant on it, you can't say there's a dividing line between authentic and non-authentic.

what you can say is that there is a such thing as a Mexican taco, which is always made with ground corn and fresh herbs, rarely if ever with ground meat, and an American or Southwestern taco, which tends to be made with ground meat and fillings including shredded cheese, guacamole, and sour cream, optionally with a flour tortilla. These are two different recipes and the only core requirement for something being a taco is that it has a tortilla and some meat cooked with southwestern spices, particularly cumin and pepper.

if your hot dog becomes common enough that it can be seen as a regional food, sure, go ahead. I know you're trying to make a point by analog, but just because it sounds ridiculous to you doesn't change the fact that it's a realistic example of cultural flow. just be sure to call it a dickland hot dog because we don't want any aspie getting confused and thinking you're referring to an actual american hot dog.

the reason why pizza seems to have less variation is because there's less things to vary. you also conveniently ignored a lot of variables. gluten-free pizza does not contain wheat flour but can still be found at pizzerias. many pizzas do not contain red sauce or cheese. and that's just American pizza, let's not get started on Japanese pizza, which may contain only dough, sausages, seafood, and teriyaki sauce or mayo. you can say it's "not authentic" but a whole fucking nation eats it anyway and does not give a shit about your "muh cultural authenticity"

No it's not. It's cooked on a vertical spit, nothing more. It's pork and pineapple and pureed dried mexican chilies, and was purely invented in mexico city. What resembles lebanese food there? Right. Nothing but the electric vertical spit invention. People have been cooking over fire forever, even in mexico. Stop spouting stuff you don't know about. While vendors were opening up fast food elsewhere, like gyros in the US, it was opening up in Mexico too. What was being served at either wasn't halal, wasn't turkish, wasn't greek, but was invented to sell to local audiences. It was just the next machine on the market that you could make a small business with.

no, sorry. What you just said is not really valid.

Taco bell uses a proprietary pre-mixed and pre-frozen slop of industrial-grade beef. It's not Prime, It's not Choice, it's not even Select - it's "regular", just a step above Canner meat. It's literally taken from the same pile as premium dogfood.

Real tacos are just made from milanesa de res (USDA select sirloin @$2.99/lb) or just chuck... also about $2.99/lb. If you actually get a real "carne asada" taco, it's actually made from res de ranchera, or skirt steak - @ 5.99/lb.

Taco bell's "meat" costs them 14 cents a lb, and it's not worth that. Besides, only 36% of their actual meat mix is MEAT... the rest are useless fibers, etc..

Fast-food chain Taco Bell is facing a lawsuit over whether the "seasoned beef" in its food is, in fact, beef. The suit from Alabama law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis and Miles claims Taco Bell is engaging in false advertising because their beef contains only about 35 percent beef. For more on the case, host Michele Norris talks to Dee Miles, one of the lead attorneys in the lawsuit.

also, even if they lost the lawsuit, they would only have to bring it up to 40%, because According to the USDA, which regulates the nation's meat supply, "taco meat filling" is required to contain at least 40% fresh meat and must be labeled with the product name, including the word "filling."

But that requirement applies to raw meat sold by manufacturers. The USDA doesn't regulate what companies such as restaurants can describe to their customers in advertisements as "beef," "chicken" or "meat," USDA press officer Neil Gaffney said.

Not the guy you're replying to, but I have to say that no matter whether it's 80% beef or 40% beef, you're still eating dog food grade meat. "beef" can be any part of a cow, steer or bull, at any age, and any quality. You still don't know what you're really eating. Anyplace that sells food that cheaply, you should automatically know you're getting the worst quality possible. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to profit from things at that price point. How in the fuck can you make the claim that there is literally no authentic mexican cuisine outside of border towns in mexico when i know for a fact that food i've eaten in mexico is nearly identical to food i've had here in new york city.

Again, you're claiming the physical act of putting a foot on the soil of another country causes you to forget how to make food you've been making your entire life and lose every modicum of talent in making food in the style you've been raised to do so.

However, to pretend that the food cannot traverse is facetious at best. Not everything translates over, but at least from my experiences, you can find some authentic Northern Mexico influences in the US. I will never understand the self hate with Mexicans. The ones in the US legally hate illegals and people in Mexico, Mexicans hate anyone that leaves the country, but sends checks back home, and illegals hate everybody, but are fiercely patriotic.

Again, might want to re-read what was said. Jason or whatever was saying that it didn't make any sense. Another guy chimed in with a subcultural phenomenon that literally had nothing to do with anything. Jason states "okay, the fuck does that have to do with anything? How does that prove or disprove his point" Then the mexican hat guy starts bitching about how he didn't understand the irrelevant article about people who were mexican but wore stupid fag clothes. Then when Jason points this shit out, he starts sameposting his own bullshit and the retarded mexican guy starts being retarded. Then you said he's backpedalling. As far as i can tell, the fast food namefag is trying to prove a logical point while two others are going on and on about "muh mexico!" to eachother. I don't see any backpedalling at all anywhere other than one guy saying "mexicans in other countries can't cook! ONLY MEXICANS CAN!" and another guy coming back with "BUT MEXICANS CAN WEAR SHITTY CLOTHES AND LOVE TORTILLAS! SEE?!??"

Again, as you're saying this, you're claiming that someone who you consider the VERY BEST in mexican cuisine and authentic mexican cuisine in your own words and your own race or whatever the fuck comes over to another country, the absolute millisecond they set a foot on that foreign soil, they've lost the ability to cook anything authentic. This is literally the argument you're giving.

For some reason when I finally got through to Fast Food Hut he for some reason tried obfuscating an honest mistake. Not so much back pedalling maybe (as a concession to get this shit over with), more flailing about wildly in a general backwards direction.

I've followed the reply chain.

>Taco is some sort of sandwich
No it isnt
>usually handmade from whole grain corn
First of all thats NOT how you use the corn in the tortillas and 90% of the time we get our tortillas from la tortilleria.
>The stuffing.
Well it kinda gets complicated if you can fit something in between a tortilla (a real one that is) you just made a thing taco.
>typically x toppings
I dont want to go against the grain but you can pretty much skip this
>purchased from vendors
Nope, it is more common to buy some tortillas and have a guisado. It is not like everyday we eat in the puesto de tacos.
>not flour tortilla
There is a fine line between a taco con tortilla de harina and a burrito. Flour tortillas can still make tacos wtf.
>not simmered ground beef
