You know the basic small $1 burgers.. the basic cheeseburgers from McD's and BK, the Jr Cheeseburger from Wendy's. What used to be a full meal back in the 1960's but is now just an appetizer before the really big burger that amerilards cram down their gasping throats.

Anyway. Which chain's BASIC burgers would you pick? The dollar-menu cheeseburger, with the small thin patty and basic toppings, on a white bun with no sesame seeds etc.

Me I'd go with Wendy's. The Jr Cheeseburger Deluxe has too many toppings for the size of the patty but the Jr Cheeseburger is ok.

Wendy's tastes the most like real beef to me. Burger King has that weird fake smokey taste. McD's tastes like, well, McD's. Depends on what I'm in the mood for.

I wouldn't be able to articulate the differences if you put a gun to my head.

How do you go to these places often enough to know?

>I wouldn't be able to articulate the differences if you put a gun to my head.

But you can taste the difference between, say, two different brands of organic noodles? Sounds like you're being disingenuous, detecting differences in taste only when you feel like it.

It depends on the noodles and the brands, for the most part with ordinary durum dry pasta it comes down to texture rather than flavor, which I would guess is a product of shape affecting the process of absorbing the cooking water. I don't generally look for pasta that has the word "organic" on it, but not because I'm poor and I hate nice things like you. On the contrary, "organic" isn't good enough for me, because I know it has been defined by big agribusiness and if I was interested in the characteristics that "organic" purports to deal with, I'd use other criteria.

But yes, to answer your question broadly, my nice food is better than your $1 cheeseburgers.

And of course I could tell you the differences between your junk food if I ate there as often as you. The whole point was that I eat stuff like that a couple of times a year. How am I going to remember whether some shitty fast food had a "faint smokey taste", the most I'm going to remember is what unusual circumstances brought about a need to eat a terrible burger from a cheap fast food joint.

Actually I am, food is a big deal to me and when it's my turn to pick the restaurant everyone usually has a pretty good time.

I'm not sure where "fun" and "Wendy's cheeseburger" intersect, though.

Wendys may be fast and it's food but it's not fast food. Their beef is ACTUALLY 100% beef, unlike McDicks and BK and everywhere else. It's the only place that has decent tomato and pickles and lettuce, even if it is iceberg lettuce. Wendys bacon actually looks and tastes like bacon, too. That's why I always get the junior bacon cheeseburger, because anywhere else and the bacon is just gross.

He is wrong. I was surprised nobody contradicted this. Are you just judging by the pictures from advertisements? They where as off as now. I was born in 58. The food HAS shrunk, not in calories, but in quality also. Taco bell burritos are less than 1/2 the size they where in the 70s and 80s the tacos about 2/3 the size and the rest of the menu everywhere else has followed suit while becoming a different more processed type of calorie. The serving sizes back then where actually more generous, everywhere, but the food was healthier and less calorie dense and people lived differently, ate far less junk and where busier physically.

Im curious, where do you judge this from? Many people have alot of off judgements about the past, or they judge to narrow, it really wasnt that much different than it is now.

Alot of change comes from racial intergration. And political correctness from that. It really wasnt too different.

Wendy's puts the absolute worst lettuce on their burgers.
I don't even get the McDonald's concoction of onions-ketchup-pickles.

>> No.5371714

>>5371707

well the only unusual thing about mcd's is the shredded rehydrated onions that they use. it mixes with the ketchup and really forms its own condiment. the pickles are just pickles.

I'd take mcd's over the other two because it doesn't try to pretend it's something more. it's like a taco bell taco, it's its own delicious trashy thing.

if you look at wendy's jr cheeseburger deluxe it has real tomato and lettuce sure but they're SHIT quality. why even bother at that point. just go full trash.

True. McDonalds' McDouble and Tacobell's tacos are garbage, but they are such a special kind of garbage to where they are rightfully inhabit a legitimate place in the meal kingdom. Sort of like Yoohoo chocolate drink: "I don't know what the fuck this disgusting shit is, but I will certainly drink an entire bottle within a couple of minutes and feel simultaneously shitty and amazing about the fact."

well there are the baconator, and mcd's angus burgers (now the new QPs) and the whopper variants, but underneath all those are the basic small burgers. for mcd's it's what they built their empire on, but today they're largely forgotten.
