1 part oats,
2 1/2 to 3 parts water.
Pinch of salt.
Heat (pan or microwave, doesn't matter much if you stir enough).

Splash of cold milk at the end with a drizzle of heather honey over the top.

Lumpy with some milk, butter, and cinnamon.

No, OP, you add a base of water and oatmeal (volume 2:1) or water, milk and oatmeal (equal parts) and let it simmer on a stove plate.

Add berries, dried fruits, spice, nuts and/or seeds as you simmer. I recommend bilberries or blackberries; prunes, raisins or goji; caraway or cinnamon; hazelnuts; almods, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. You can also add an egg, but I only recommend this if you cook for more than one, as a whole egg can overwhelm otherwise.

When it's done, stir with a pinch of salt, butter or cream. Serve with jam, butter, milk or cinnamon on top.

Use apple and cinnamon oatmeal for best results.

I don't really like the mushy texture of most oatmeal and I don't like the idea of cooking oatmeal in the morning.
I recently discovered you can make a really great oatmeal breakfast by simply mixing equal parts oatmeal and milk (I use almond milk) plus whatever dried fruit, nuts, sweetner, whatever, the night before and putting it in the fridge. Honestly the best way to prepare it I've had and it makes a nutritious filling breakfast.

>> No.5363103

put prepared oatmeal into the freezer for 10 minutes. it congeals into a chewy semi-solid. cut the oatmeal into blocks and serve with ice cold milk.

Bring 3 cups of water to a boil

Lower heat and simmer it, stirring occasionally until enough of the water has evaporated out
Add chopped dates or raisins, banana, and walnuts

Spring is here and summer is coming, and while a nice hot bowl of steel cut oats is great in the morning sometimes it's just too goddamn hot for something like that.

>inb4 blahblah hot food / drinks cool you down faster blah blah blah i suck dicks look at how many of them I have in my mouth aghalghalgaluglh

So when summer rolls around I use the following recipie for cold oatmeal-

THE NIGHT BEFORE-
In a bowl combine:
>1 cup of rolled oats (rolled, not steel cut, not instant)
>1/2 cup of Milk
>3/4 cup yogurt (any kind really depending on what you like.)
>Any combination of fresh or dried fruit and or nuts.
Let this shit sit in the fridge overnight. By morning it'll be all congealed together in a hideous mess AS WELL IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THAT SHIT IS DELICIOUS. Add honey and/or salt to taste. Shit's amazing.

>> No.5363598

Absolutely disgusting. Plebs like you should stick to sugar frosted cereal.

No sugar.
No syrup.
No honey.
No fruits.
Cinnamon is acceptable if it's Christmas.
Combine oats with whole milk. Simmer until desired thickness. Mix in salt. Ladle into a bowl and add a teaspoon of butter. Serve with a glass of cold milk.
Final destination.

I like to mix oatmeal 2:1 with yogurt and milk, then eat it like cereal. If you use steel-cut, it's almost like Grape Nuts.

1. take oatmeal
2. pour as much milk / yoghurt / water in it as you want
3. eat

you really can overdo everything...
If you don't have time to eat with a spoon in the morning:

1.oatmeal
2.milk
3.banana/strawberri/whatever fruit
4.mixer
5.drink

fruit and milk both are.
butter, cream, refined sugar and syrup however should only really be treated as taste enhancers unless you're seeking maximum energy and can't stomach any more decent whole food e.g. nuts, banana, more milk or the oats themselves.

also I recommend pumpkin in milk-free Porridge. you can get all necessary fat from the oats.
yes, you need some fat if you don't enjoy zero weight loss (only resolve)or depression, apathy and zero sex drive. speakin from experience.
of course, if you're not seeking weight loss due to not being a fatty in the first place then do as you wish.

1/2 rolled oats with 3/4 cup milk. Throw 1/2 cup of frozen berries half way through cooking. After it's done add a pinch of splenda. Shit is so good.

I really like the taste of oatmeal so I usually just cook it in water and add brown sugar. sometimes I cook it with sultanas too.

My usual breakfast, quick oats in 2:3 ratio to water:
1. Put water on to boil
2. Add sliced banana, molasses, cinnamon
3. Add spoonfull of peanut butter once water is hot enough to dissolve it
(alter steps 2 and 3 for alternate ingredients)
4. Add oats, stir,
5. Cover pot, let rest at least 1 minute before eating.

I usually eat 4/3rds cup of oats every morning, that's enough to let me cycle to work and get through the first five hours without hunger. Alternatively, this is enough fuel for about two hours of intensity activity (mountain hiking, cycling)
