So being the piece of shit I am, I bought a keurig on craigslist for $30, then bought a new one (better one, actually) at target, and returned the craigslist one in its box. they just send it back to keurig as a "manufacturer defect" anyway, so I don't even feel bad.

Anyways
I just got some of pic related for cheap, and it's freaking great. why don't you have one, /ck?

Because the french press I bought today was just 20 bucks without the fraud.

Though the place I usually buy my beans from upped the price per pound to around 15 usd.

Congratulations. You are one of the reasons that workers get paid less, and why companies have to focus on profits so anally.

Good stuff OP! Very creative and inventive, I admire your chutzpah.

I have at least 8 different methods of coffee prep in my home, but since I bought my Life Partner® a Keurig for XMas 2012 that is what I use almost exclusively.

You can pick up Van Houtte cups for relatively cheap at Costco. I like that and Green Mountain.

Pretty sure things like this are pretty much negligible in the grand scheme of why workers get paid less.

Because making a cup of coffee is trivial as-is, and I don't need it made any easier.

Good goy! Blame each other and not huge corporations and the government policies that protect them! Remember the 6 million!

You know, according to some scientists, coffee is going to dramatically climb in price and may actually disappear from store shelves as climate change progresses.

Keurig, like any company, throws out a substantial amount of these machines every day. I would say absolute minimum of 3-5% of their machines are defective and get throws away.

OP doing this didn't hurt anything.

why does this sound bad to you? the coffee, tea, cocoa, and whatever other shit they make is actually pretty good quality. and you can cook instant ramen with it too.

God those things are so fucking good.

One of the reasons I enjoy visiting my parents...they've got a kuerig and loads of those cappucino cups. Mmm.

It doesn't. It just sounds unnecessary..

Some would say the daily consumption of an extract of a S. American fruit is unnecessary.

IIRC, the higher quality, better tasting coffee (arabica) will probably go up in price, but the robusta species (which is the cheaper, stronger stuff) won't be as effected. So your specialty coffees will most likely shoot up in price, while your Tim's and McDs and Starbucks shouldn't change too much.

No, Target pays shit because people will work for shit. Companies focus on profit because that is their reason to exist.
