I can't get it thin in a home-style oven, no matter what I try.
However!
A friend built a wood-burning pizza oven in her garden and I was able to prepare perfect pizzas in it. I think the flatness owes more to how quickly you can reach doneness than an actually recipe, I'm afraid.

Not really. Pizza cooks in literally a minute or two at proper temps. That's not enough time to impart much smokiness. Also, I should correct myself by saying that she didn't burn wood in it but rather coal.
