The microwave is fine, it helps to put a damp paper towel on top of the rice, though, to prevent if from drying out. However, considering you have old rice, why not make egg fried rice?

Find recipe. Ask specific questions about things you don't know.

For starter, for egg fried rice, you need a large skillet with high sides, or a large pot. Do you have that?

ok. You won't need that much oil. Put the pan on the stove, and warm it up at bit (medium heat should be good). Add about a tablespoon of oil. Warm it until you can feel the heat when your hand is 6ish inch from the pan. Add the rice, then stir in your eggs.

Just wash your eggs every time and only use fresh, organic, cage-free eggs

I tried making egg fried rice the other day using a wikihow recipe

this one part said to put the whisked egg directly into the rice...well, it just kinda mixed together into a goopy egg rice, so I tried stirring it around so the egg would cook (I had my doubts it'd cook like I was expecting...) and it never really did, it's almost like the egg disappeared.

what did I do wrong. :(

>> No.5172913

>>5172905
The egg is supposed to turn into pieces.

You could also just crack the egg into the pan with the rice after you've fried it and just scramble up the egg that way.

My mum makes it by heating up oil in a pan and dumping in yesterday's rice. While the rice is frying, she pours over eggs whisked with salt and white pepper and stirs so every grain of rice is coated with egg. The rice comes out a nice pale gold colour with bits of egg.

If you take a dozen eggs, let them sit in your 'fridge for two months, then spend a week cracking one or two into a glass, dolloping in some worcestershire and hotsauce and sprinkling in salt and pepper, and then you drink them raw?

You'll be just fine.

Unless you're a complete third-world-country diseased waif you won't get salmonella and won't be sick long if you do.

Don't be afraid of eggs. Fools and cowards are afraid of eggs because they're stupid sheep. Nobody healthy needs to be afraid of an egg.

Hell, if you live in a more civilized country than I do you can buy your eggs warm and store them warm too; the 'fridge is only needed for eggs here because we do stupid things to them and then sell them in the 'fridge section.

this is what I ate growing up when there wasn't enough food to go around. add a bit of soy sauce and that's your entire dinner. if we're lucky, we can share a can of fermented black bean and fish between four people.
