5092885 No.5092885[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

For the past two years on /ck/, we have had a /ck/ Challenge, a sort of cooking competition. This year the event organizers have decided not to repeat their experience, however, there was still a notable amount of interest in it, so I decided to see what I could do.

This is a test round, to see how it goes, and so I'm able to define the rules and scoring for this year's actual event. If this is a success, there will be two seasons: one at the end of January/early February, the other during spring, and the final round will take place during summer.

Challengers are to register using this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/10sahH3D_us6v9hHtdWjciRP9PbdZi0p82u_oMjQqcCY/edit#

and post their submissions in this thread. Sunday, the voting form will be revealed, and people will be able to cast their votes.

>Register

yeeeeah, no. We just post in the thread with tripcodes and timestamps.

Don't try to complicate a formula that worked and was relatively streamlined. You're trying to encourage people to participate, not put them off with byzantine layers of autism.

>> No.5092893

Challengers will be judged on the following creative and technical aspects:

- Idea
- Presentation
- Composition
- Taste
- Texture
- Aroma

- Ingredients
- Technique
- Compositing
- Planning
- Effort
- Realization

This round's secret ingredient is: Salt.

Your dish must include, use, or showcase salt in one way or another.

Yup, you have to type your username and tripcode in a form because I'm not copy/pasting all of them one by one. Thank you for the effort.

The prior formula didn't work. The proof is that, if I wasn't doing it, there would not be a challenge.

This is not even a challenge, it's just a test.

This thread is also not to discuss it, it was discussed earlier this week.

Yeah I was gonna enter but you've turned this into a fucking joke Sceak, fuck off

Do you not have imagination? Can you base your imaginings on known facts? Can you see a picture of tomato sauce with red wine and oregano, and imagine what it smells like?

Like I said, this is a test.

It's not a joke, it's a test. It's meant to test the way it's going to work if it happens for real.

>>5092911

I never cared for the /ck/ Challenge. I don't compete. I don't enter in competition, I many times refused to enter in competition. I never participated in the /ck/ challenge.

>>5092912
nope, it's a troll and once the troll has been called, it stops working.

This looks like one of the angry guy contestants who was voted off early last year and then spammed the rest of the competition with the same "anonymous voting doesn't work" "voting on food you can't taste is a jok" type bullshit.

you're probably the least suitable and least capable of running this thing then. please stop.

>> No.5092932

-If- this test format doesn't pan out I am still willing to run a full marathon format challenge later in spring/early summer.

Still curious to see how this will turn out, however. Will be monitoring the thread.

Oh! You didn't give a "due date" for your entries. Might want to fix that OP.

Both true. I know Sceak had major ass pain throughout the whole contest last year, and several people thought he was the major spammer.

These shitty judgement categories make it look like he's running this contest to wreck it, so that he can be center of attention for a while.

Would I wreck it? Probably. I would fuck almost any clean, free of disease, non-obese woman who has even the resemblance of a personality.

Whether I would fuck that chubby SEA or not isn't an indicator of anything of merit. It is not saying she is attractive by any means.

so, the original formula was fine. This whole new way of judging is ill conceived.

1. Not everyone is going to have the confidence to participate in the first couple of rounds. So by making the contestants sign up ahead of time will isolate people that would have otherwise gotten into the game later.
also, the timestamp/identifier thing works points taken off for challenge goals if the forget.
2. >>5092893 these requirements are over complicated. Less categories would be better.
Idea, presentation, composition could be replace with just originality and presentation. Judging the presentation would encompass the composition anyway. Imagined taste, texture, aroma could be replaced with "subjective appeal". The above categories already cover if the dish looks pretty, and is well arranged, but if the ratios sound off or the ingredient combinations off putting then "subjective appeal" would cover that. Lastly, you would need a category to cover if the contestant met the requirements of the theme of the round, especially if restrictions or special requirements were imposed (as in the case of being a penalty) . You could just call it "achievements unlocked" or "challenge goals" or "theme satisfaction" if you want to be different.
The following would be covered by the categories above:
> Ingredients
challenge goals
>Technique
presentation
> Compositing
presentation/subjective appeal
>Planning
subjective appeal
>Effort
subjective appeal
>Realization
challenge goals

3. I don't know what to say about the google docs voting. It is a good way to keep everything in order, but if you could add a "notes" section for the judge to leave feedback if he wishes it would be better. The feedback from the judges is very important in this competition. You could post a link to a cut and past site like paste bin. with each of the contestants "notes" cut and pasted from the form onto one sheet for each contestant. Other folks would be able to view this information too

>> No.5099096

sceak is going to get banned a week into the challenge and the whole thing will crumble. I still look forward to this ensuing shitstorm.

Am I the only one whos highly amused that the challenge is hosted by Sceak, of all people? seems unreal.

>> No.5099107

>>5099096
Given the amount of time Sceak has put into this board, I'm not entirely surprised.

Has anybody discussed the possibility of getting any competition stickied? There was a lot of drama about it last competition but I'm personally in favour of keeping it unstickied. It would also allow the competition to be much more manageable for the new host.
