I got some eggs that go off today. If I were to bake them into cookies or something, would the cookies last a while, or would they be gone off by tomorrow too?

Do the water test to see if they are getting close

And once you use them in baking it really doesn't matter

I had eggs that were over a month past their sell by date and baked some cookies. about a week and half later I'm still having one or two every morning for breakfast and feel fine. 4 out of six failed the water test [>>5086548] mentioned

I have no idea how egg expiration works to be honest though. eggs are so cheap around here that if I'm questioning whether or not they're good to eat I just buy more. unless it's midnight and I feel like baking cookies and am impatient and stores are closed

Crack open the egg. If it smells like shit, chuck it.

not rocket science

You know in Mission Impossible, when Ethan Hunt smashes the two pieces of the stick of gum together, smashes it into the aquarium, and it explodes?

That's what your cookies will become.

Nah, I know the eggs are grand for now. I was just wondering if the cookies would spoil quicker.

>> No.5086641

You can freeze eggs, you know. Separate the yolks, freeze the whites, and add salt to the yolks. Top with plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.

No you don't.

Eggs don't magically go off when they're past their date. What are you, 12?

I repeat my question.

Eggs last a lot longer than they're dated, I own some chickens and keep the eggs in a basket for about a month. In the fridge they'll keep even longer.

Chances are the cookies won't have enough time to spoil. Not to mention cooking them will kill off any undesirable germs, bacteria and other shit that contributes. They'll last as long as any other cookie.

>I was just wondering if the cookies would spoil quicker

No, once you have made the cookies the baking process will have killed any bacteria that would have caused the eggs to spoil. It's like restarting the timer on their freshness once they come out of the oven.

You can actually freeze them whole. The shell cracks, but it's a pretty clean way to do it.

to check if eggs are ok to eat, fill a bowl with cold water, drop the eggs in. if they float, they are bad. if they sink, they are still good.

I just wanna know, what shit tier cookies are you making that you have to worry about their shelf life?
