If they do and you (not you, but OP) are still not sure, just ask the people that work there or just start at the beginning and go through everything.

After I had figured out what styles I liked and tried most of the ones I knew were supposed to be good, I started doing that and found some I didn't like but a few good ones that I wouldn't have tried otherwise.

same story here OP, 18 in the UK. I'm currently drinking black sheep ale.

I went to belguim for new year, and I have heard many good things about belgian beers, but I was very disappointed with all of the 20+ I tried over the week, they all share a similar zingy sourness. I could compare it to blue cheese, another highly praised thing that i can't stand.

>> No.5085485

>Sake is actually beer,
Nope.

>> No.5085500

>>5085477
no, sake is sake

the production process is closer to beer than wine, but that doesnt make it a beer.

wine ferments with the sugars already in the grape, while beer needs to be brewed to convert starch to sugar which is then fermented.

sake is brewed also, but the similarities to beer end here.

>> No.5085518

>>5085500
Beer has a pretty broad definition. It's literally extracting a sugar from a starch and fermenting it. Thus sake can be classified as beer.

Wrong. There are 100% wheat beers, there are plenty of gluten free beers. There are beers that use sorGhum as the starch source. Chicha is a type of beer made from corn, that has its starches converted into sugar by human saliva. Rice and buckwheat are two other starch sources that are used to make beer with 0 barley.

>There are 100% wheat beers
Pretty sure wheat beers are usually about 50% wheat 50% barely
>there are plenty of gluten free beers
Which are technically not beers

I suppose it depends on how you choose to define beer, but the legal definition in most jurisdictions involves barley

>> No.5085702

>>5085669
Yes usually wheat beers are at least 60/40 barley to wheat, but they don't have to be. And although some food laws have narrowed the definition of beer to help consumers know what to expect, the definition of including malted barely makes little scientific sense, leaves out most African beers, and many historical beer styles. Additionally, the U.S. is coming around on it's beer labeling. Sorghum beers are now legally labled as "beer made with sorghum" http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/LabelingNutrition/ucm166239.htm

>> No.5085716
