> big hair was in

The big hair meant getting up an extra hour early to tend to the big hair, which tended to allow for time to attend to all the other little details. Putting some thought into your outfit, accessorizing, makeup, all that stuff. Girls were a work of art then and I thoroughly enjoyed it, to the point that I went around with a baguette in my pants all day long because of it.

I don't know. In college the ladies would always throw on jeans and a baseball hat and pretend to be invisible. Clubwear has never impressed me... it's just so much more "purchased" rather than crafted effect. Girls I see now, if that's the "zero effort" look then it must be an "amongst girls" thing because it reeks of effortlessness. I have no problem at all with it... Its just not the 80's by any stretch. And not 100% bad either, I really hated the knee length boots and pointy shoes from a few years ago but goddamn the leggings, platform heels, and resurgence of pantyhoses has really perked things up.

Like food, ready-to-wear fashion have been ingrained in our culture to the point that most people won't recognize what's good quality and bad quality clothing.
