I'm visiting family out of state and I looked forward to eatin' good. I was in for a shocker; My mom doesn't cook her authentic food anymore. I asked my eldest sibling and dad if anyone cook, and their response was "not anymore." I guess my mom fell out of her "mother role" ever since I moved out.

The freezer was full of trader joe's frozen shit. I asked what do they eat, and they just said they out out 80% of the time.

I really looked forward to having my first bite of my mom's comfort food... I have yet to do so and it's been three days so far. Feels fucking bad man.

When I lived here I used to cook for my family as well, and they really enjoyed it at the time. But I guess I should start cooking again for them until I leave to make them happy. I miss sitting in the kitchen with my family eating good food. Anyone have any good idea on what I should make?

Even then, back at my place I dread cooking after work because my fucking boyfriend rarely cooks. It doesn't help I deal ith food when work too.

TL;DR: Falling out of the joy of cooking. Has anyone else experienced any of this? :( So sad. This just depresses me. Sorry everyone, I'm just venting.

I very rarely cook anymore, sadly. All my recipes were pretty unhealthy but delicious, I used to get so much joy out of cooking up a big pot of brocolli cheddar soup or some swiss fondue, chili, etc and pigging out on my awesomeness. Needless to say I got pretty obese and have been dieting all year.

I don't eat out much either though, I eat alot of prepackeged Trader Joe's foods. I find the nutrition info on the label and the controlled portion sizes really help me keep track of what I'm consuming as compared to just loading up a bowl of chili with god knows how many calories. Portion controlled sizes have definitely kept me on track and have gotten me used to what is considered a normal sized portion.

My family isn't fat, but i'm starting to worry about them eating out very frequently.

I agree about cooking up a big meal! It used to be so for me to feed my family and relatives. When I moved out, I had to stop doing that because my boyfriend and I couldn't finish it all-- I had to cut the portions in half so we didn't waste any left overs.

I dont know, i'm just feeling really bummed that I don't enjoy something that I really once used to.
