The person who dreamed up the BMI said explicitly that it could not and should not be used to indicate the level of fatness in an individual.

The BMI was introduced in the early 19th century by a Belgian named Lambert Adolphe Jacques Quetelet. He was a mathematician, not a physician. He produced the formula to give a quick and easy way to measure the degree of obesity of the general population to assist the government in allocating resources. In other words, it is a 200-year-old hack.

I feel so much fucking better. I did with a 100% plant based diet. I drink no calories (only water). And I did it all without exercise. It really is true what they say. Losing weight is almost 90% about what you eat. You don't really need to do shit besides eat right. And in most American's cases, that means no bread, no fried foods, no fast food, and no soda. Eat nothing but raw fruits and veegtables for four months and you can get out of your rut. You're gonna like the way you look, I guarantee it.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18359190

"BMI is particularly inaccurate for people who are fit or athletic, as the higher muscle mass tends to put them in the overweight category by BMI, even though their body fat percentages frequently fall in the 10–15% category, which is below that of a more sedentary person of average build who has a normal BMI number. Body composition for athletes is often better calculated using measures of body fat, as determined by such techniques as skinfold measurements or underwater weighing and the limitations of manual measurement have also led to new, alternative methods to measure obesity, such as the body volume index."

In fact the man that popularized the 'Body Mass Index' specifically said that it is inappropriate for individual diagnosis.

This BMI chart is inaccurate. It assumes everybody has the same body type. For example: I'm 6'1" and weigh 223 pounds. According to this chart my BMI would be between 29-30%. Which is wrong. My actual BMI is 27%. The real way is to measure around your waist around the navel (make sure the tape is even) and remember that number (mine is 42.25") Then you measure your neck around under your Adam's apple (mine is 17") then you enter your stats into the formula which would give you your bmi (fuck remembering the formula use this: http://www.calculator.net/army-body-fat-calculator.html))

tl;dr
Take bmi based on weight with a grain of salt

This looks like a chart for women or gays because for a guy to be 5'9-6'0 and have 162-172 the utmost range for normal is total bullshit.. you would have to have no muscle on you and you would look like a fucking twink. and 125 wtf for a guy 5'9.. you would look like fucking ghandi.. if you had muscle on you, you would have below 3 percent body fat..

Human beings aren't supposed to be big muscley faggots that strain their body all day every day by picking up weights and putting them back down. Whether you're big because of fat or because of muscle, you're overweight, and neither style of obesity is healthy.

I'm 6'4'' and 215 lb, so on the low side of overweight. But I don't look fat, or even skinny fat.

Honestly it says that 156/164 is healthy for my height but I don't know if I believe that. honestly if I lost 50+ pounds it would literally be a complete loss of all muscle tone.
