Hawaiian pizza is best pizza, that and Pizza Hut Supreme pizza. I remember one time as a kid though, I was with my dad somewhere when he had to do something and I wanted pizza, so my dad and I stopped at this pizzeria right there down the block, a shanty looking place. I loved Hawaiian pizza and saw it on the menu, lucky me my father ordered it for me. The guy took a normal slice of pizza, set it on the counter and then pulled a dole can of pineapple chunks that had been already opened and set on the counter behind him. Took some cubes, placed it on the pizza and then put it to heat up.

Worst Hawaiian pizza ever. I'll never forget my dad saying when we were walking outside, "He just took a can of pineapple and put it on the pizza. I could've done that".

Hawaiian pizza isn't eaten any more frequently in Hawaii than elsewhere (and Dole canned pineapple is just as cheap in New England than it is in Hawaii.

Red dirt shirts are mostly worn by tourists (unless you are talking about Hawaiian print shirts, which being able to wear year round without looking retarded is one of the major perks of living in Hawaii; and straight up hang loose, shaka t-shirts are awesome wherever you are.

Dog the haole sucks, and anyone who flies out to Hawaii and doesn't make it beyond Waikiki is just as stupid.

I grew up eating Pizza Hanalei. Their large pizzas go for over $30, as Hawaii is expensive as fuck.

Protip: hit up 7/11 first thing and get a box lunch with some manapuas on the side first thing if you ever actually visit.

How do they make the rice taste so fucking amazing? Is it sauteed with the pork fat or something? I haven't looked up any recipes, don't really know if it's just "Hawaiian rice". I also buy kalua pork about once a month, lucky to have access to some of the Hawaiian brands.

Not really sure how most places make it (it's pretty cheap however it's done). Every time I've made it I just used what I had, usually beef stock/drippings (or just chicken stock, since I always have some on hand).
