Hey co/ck/s I've got a quick question.

I don't want to buy a coffee maker. I have a hot plate thing (pic related). Can I just buy a coffee pot and put it on the hot plate to make instant coffee? Will it scorch the coffee pot? Will it break if it gets too hot? Is this safe?

if you're making instant coffee just use a kettle and pour the hot water into your mug like a normal person.

Uh why do you need a coffee pot for instant coffee? Why do you post a topic on /ck/ for what is the cop out, non-coffee making method of coffees?

I only have a skillet, a wok, and a large pot. I was looking for something a little bit smaller and easier to pour.

Electric kettle

OP, a glass coffee pot would be a bad idea; the sudden temperature change from the burner could cause it to crack at some point. A metal kettle would work well, with the potential advantage of whistling when the water is boiling. Though personally, I'd rather have a small saucepan, so I could use it for other things as well.

Thanks a lot. I might just break down and get a small saucepan then so I can use it for vegetables or soups as well then.

Nijmegen here!

Good luck with your quest for an answer to your coffee question.

I just have a 10 year old coffeemaker I found by the thrash once. A Senseo... it works perfectly
