Depends on the place I guess.
Most of the time I would like some cheese on my pizza, along with maybe some other toppings, but if it's a good Italian place I'll usually try other pizzas.
But I can understand why people would want cheese on their pizza. Cheese is pretty much a standard for pizzas.

While I pretty much never order or eat plain cheese pizza, it can be good if quality ingredients are used. The light browning on the cheese, the gooeyness just below that, rich mater sauce, and carefully made dough can make for a good pizza without it being an edible plate for other toppings.

one of the key facts you are missing out on is the variety of cheeses
a nice 4 cheese pizza with a nice Fontina or asiago can make a delicious pizza
you get that little bit of browning on the top and gooey fucking middle

With the right cheese, cheese pizza is very, very good. I think wet mozzarella with just a purée/oil sauce is fine. You get to really taste the ingredients then.

A good dough, maybe even a sauce made from fresh tomatoes, some good cheese. There's nothing in the way of the main components, you're not overwhelmed by the pepperoni's spiciness and saltiness, or the strong mushroom aroma, or the bitterness of green peppers.

Cheese pizza is very, very good.
