Somewhat. Where the hand was severed from the bunch is already cauterized/dried, so if you split them, the process has to repeat. Osmosis between the bananas is probably marginal, at best.

I put mine in the fridge. The peel goes dark but the banana inside stops ripening as fast. they can last quite a long time like that.
