Am I the only one who gets pissed when people's only experience with a certain food is some shitty processed form?

Quick Google search found me this shit leddit post:

>YUM I LOVE POT PIES MARIE CALIENDERS IS MY FAVORITE

These people have never tried a real pot pie in their life

Poor plebs

>> No.4653922

Marie Calienders is actually one of the more solid microwavable foods you can buy

Those pot pies are nothing different from any brand I've tried, though, and they're too small to actually be considered a decent meal.

I get bothered that most people haven't tried chocolate pudding besides some snack pack though

I remember some scandal from a couple of years ago where food critics were invited to a "gourmet night" and were served Marie Calienders frozen food under the guise of it being, well, not that.

Yeah, they could tell the difference. ConAgra had to backtrack something awful from that.

I can't believe they even tried. People buy this shit because it's quick and easy. There is most definitely a difference in taste and texture, and any fool that's had real food will be able to point out the different dishes blindfolded.

We need some UKfags in here to tell us stories about the delicious meat pies from their country.

pot pie = chicken + carrots + peas + beshchamel sauce covered with puff pastry

am I missing something here?

Meat, veg, and sauce all may vary. That's the idea, though.

Except pork pies, which are just pork and jelly.

Watch some Hairy Bikers, as someone from the south of England (pies are a northern thing) they literally got me into pies.

Oh god this show is so great. I actually found it quite by accident looking for info on the American version of Hairy Bikers (also was a neat show).

That's because, for the most part, a steak is a steak. Great Value-brand granulated sugar is no worse than Imperial, either.

honestly, yeah.. grocery store pot pies is all I've ever had. I've had some good ones, some bad ones. Some microwave ones, some oven ones..

As of late I've been stocking up on Sausage and gravy pot pies for breakfast.. pic related. Just toss one in the microwave when I wake up.

>> No.4655564

as an australian, where meat pies are very common, i admit ive only ever had shitty mrs macs frozen ones or ones bought from a chain like jester's pies.

they're pretty terrible

>> No.4655587

I live in the North of England, and every Saturday after rehersal with my brass band, I walk down to the local bakery and buy a proper, fresh pie. Generally cheese and onion, but sometimes meat and potato or a butter one.

Last week they had a 2 for 1 offer on, so I bought 4.

At my last job we used to live out of hotels and I'd usually eat Marie Calenders pot pies. They're not too bad.

My mom makes a really good homemade one, though.

You could half ass some biscuits and gravy. Tube of biscuits in the oven, zip lock will keep for a few days and microwaving them covered in gravy brings them back to life. Pound of ground spiced pork (beef will do), water or milk along with pic related and there you go. Half-assed but still likely much better than banquet. Thinking of banquet meals gives me the shivers. I loved them as a fat little kid when my mom was hurt on the job but just in a way that she couldn't work and couldn't sue.
