>> No.4626319

I agree about the fattiness. Even with nonfat it's still far more rich than I'd like, and not as strong, either. I find the iced chai lattes are a little better, but even then I prefer to make my own.

Proud to say I've never ordered from a starbucks.

>> No.4626326

The soy milk has a lighter taste, and kind of nutty quality to it that works well with all the spices. Iced chai lattes are pretty good, but I always feel like I get far less than when I order a regular chai latte.

I'd love to be able to make my own. How'd you make yours?

You, I like you.

>>4626326
Well, you can buy pre-mixed chai teas (with black tea, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, etc.) and simmer it with milk; alternately you can create your own mix. I alternate between the two; for my own homemade mix I use ceylon and/or assam black tea, whichever I have on hand. You know, I've never been able to stand the taste of soy milk; makes me gag every time (I think this has something to do with my mother, who used to make her own soymilk and make us drink it when we were little)

(I will never forgive her for that)

>> No.4626388

Flat White, please. No sugar.

I'm lucky enough to live in an area thats big on coffee, so most of the cafe's have excellent quality beans brewed by people who actually give a damn - hence, no sugar

>> No.4626394

>>4626355
I tried soy milk once about eight or nine years ago and it tasted like rotten piss. I tried it again last year and it tasted pretty good. It depends on your brand. In Britain, we have Alpro which is pretty damn good. It has a slight nutty taste, but it is mainly plain tasting. I can't stand the unsweetened wholebean, still.

I'll look into geting a chai mix. I'll find what brands I like, and then make up my own based on what I like (Heavy on the cinnamon, low on the cardamom etc...)

Thanks for the help!

I disgress it easier if it is small store in a small town community where foot traffic is low but if there is high foot traffic. Then so sorry too bad we have to keep it moving. Apart from cleaning and dealing with ungrateful people and being short staffed with workers who don't work. Its a chore.

Honestly I had a person like you once. Who was convinced that we were deliberately trying to poison her. So we made her drink four times even got a cleaner pitcher from the back. Still no anvil. So we gave her a refund and saw her off. Seriously I don't get paid enough to remake drinks 4 or 5 times over especially if they are venti sized

however, i am unable to drink caffeine. If i drink any caffeine, even from coca cola, i start stuttering like an idiot. i think its an allergic reaction

what are some good 0 caffeine drinks I can order from starbucks? Flavors I like are things like chocolate, milky, creamy, cinnamon, icy, etc

Let me learn you some knowledge bombs:

While it's true that Starbucks has stupid names for their drink sizes, there's a reason for that; when the company first started, they only sold black coffee, and it only came in two sizes, short and tall, with tall obviously being the large. Later on, they introduced a larger size, and not wanting to alienate their established customer base by renaming their sizes, they named it "Grande," which obviously means "large." They did it again later when they introduced the current largest cup size for espresso drinks, the Venti, although at that point they gave up naming things other words for "large" and just went with the number of ounces. There's an even larger size, Trenta (approx. 30 ounces) but you can only get iced coffee or iced tea in that, or if you bitch enough, they'll give you a cup of ice water that size.

Ordering coffee out is one of the most expensive, highest marked up items you can purchase. Period.

You could always make coffee for yourself in the morning or afternoon, at home. If you don't particularly care, just get some bargain-brand coffee and a cheap coffee maker. Or you could invest in a quality machine or press along with a coffee grinder and do it yourself.

But whatever, I go to Starbuck's so rarely that I would probably get a Caramel Macchiato or that seasonal pumpkin shit during fall or that creme brulee winter.

I had hoped that this is the usual. More often than not, I only buy coffee if I am out and I have forgotten to make coffee, which is very rare. It's part of my morning routine.

Even then, we can always do cheaper than Starbuck's. A lot of indie coffee shops have better prices and are commensurate in quality depending on what you're buying.

That's what I love about it! I get the mochas and I hate it when the drink's too sweet. When they do ti just right it tastes like drinking dark cocoa. I love dark chocolate so the more bitter the mocha the better imo.

There is a local coffee shop near my local Starbucks, but it is very pretentious and hipstery (as in French anime wallpaper, retro toys, and the walls decorated with old doors in a refurbished loft hipster). If I want a regular coffee, with nothing fancy added I'll got there. They do a much better plain coffee than chains. They also do a delicious hummus and roasted red pepper toasted sandwich.

If I want coffee to go, or something more extravagant like a soy chai latte, I'll go to Starbucks.

What is every college coffee shop ever? Bleh.

I know what you mean. One of my local coffee shops had a rude wait-staff to boot, which made it particularly infuriating. I am of course talking about Sitwell's in Cincinnati. Their pastries were good though. Their competitor, Roh's Street Cafe, was/is overrated. Starbucks almost wins by default in that case.

Probably the only local hipstery joint that I liked had to be Kofenya, which is a little coffee shop in a town where I went to college, for another degree. They had a delicious white caramel hot honey cider.

I should redact my statement. Finding a good coffee shop almost takes some hunting, despite website reviews and major websites. Also, finding one you can tolerate has to be the MOST difficult thing of all.
