It's not what you think it is. It's just Japanese are really bad at naming sports drinks. There's another drink called Pocari Sweat

>> No.4490942

>>4490933

"Bad at naming" doesn't really capture it correctly. We have stupid shit like Haagen Dazs in murrka, it probably sounds stupid to people from whatever country it's trying to sound like, but focus groups have determined that monolingual murkins fall for it because it evokes the correct foreign/sophisticated associations.

Likewise for Japanese, a hybrid name like "pocari sweat" doesn't sound stupid to them because it's meaningless foreign words that have sporting associations when you look them up in the dictionary.

it's really really good. thin cut tempura lotus root is one of my favorites tbh only shadowed by tempura maitake. it's a shame it's so expensive stateside (at least from my limited looking at japanese markets near my hometown). it needs to be soaked in water for quite awhile before cooking, but it ends up tasting somewhere between a water chestnut and a potato. we do lotus root fries sometimes that taste like firmer french fries.

tough is definitely the wrong word here but crisp would be appropriate.

Really folks, let's give this guy a round of applause. To be so daft as to think that people don't understand that meat is flesh. Because, you know, where else could it come from?

On a side note, this mentality is dumb. I spent a sizable portion of my childhood on a farm and have had to gut and clean fish, deer, elk, lamb, chicken, etc many times. You can find lunch deals for around 600 yen at regular restaurants. If you're on a budget and need cheaper you can get a good meal at Matsuya (the blue and orange dot ticket restaurant) or Sukiya or Yoshinoya or Hotto Motto or something which is all like Japanese fast food.

if you're looking for a good quality meal probably going to start around 800 yen for udon/soba tempura set, and going up to around 1300

you can find quality sushi joints that serve single pieces for around 90 yen, or kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi that sells two pieces for 105 yen a plate. the quality of kaiten in tokyo though is pretty shit.

It's actually pretty damn good.
Irl, if you aren't staring directly at it from 1 cm away it doesn't look that bad.

okurikinton*

pic is fuzzy, but it's of miso soup, rice, and croquettes. croquettes are pretty popular in japan, i never really encountered them in california, but i guess it's kind of like a hash brown? but not really.

anyway, usually japanese just put potatoes, or fish, or some shit inside. these had avocado, meat, and potato

Is sushi rice tasty on its own? I need to buy some sushi rice but the package sizes are quite big and I don't want to have multiple rice bags around so I'm wondering if I can use sushi rice in normal dishes as well.
