>"hey [people i live with], let's have one of us cook a proper meal once a week"
>"ok, Anon, that sounds great!"
>Roast kangaroo in a marinade
>make gravy from the drippings
>home made chips boiled, herbed and then deep fried twice for the texture with himalayan rock salt
>roast Pumpkin and sweet potato and honey glazed carrots
>get a high quality chocolate bavarian for dessert

>two weeks later and nobody has cooked since
>they say it's not fair that i set the bar so high the first time
>their ideas of stuff they can cook are boiled sausages and Spaghetti with vegetables flavoured with Woutershire sauce
>they can't even make a pasta bake
>one of them puts obscene amounts of pepper in things until the whole kitchen smells of pepper
>they also hated falling down, and spent the whole movie facebooking and imdb-ing the actors on their phones

at least it's better than the last guy i lived with, who microwaved nachos using tomato sauce and put cheese on bread into the microwave as a form of cooking, stunk the place out for hours afterwards

Well, just don't do it anymore.
OR, just tone it down. Even if you enjoy cooking, you shouldn't be breaking your bank to indulge people who can't appreciate it.
Just make some simple meals, but ONLY on your week to do it. The rest of the time, they can fend for themselves like the monkeys they are.

OR, as another idea (same poster here), find a simple cookbook with easy but nice dishes and make it the "house cookbook" and everyone has to use that to make a meal. Then, they could be learning to cook better at the same time.

Get rid of them. They cannot be salvaged.

i don't think you understand the severity of the problem

he once made a meal
for another person as well as himself
that was spaghetti noodles, with worcestershire sauce
and boiled vegetables next to it on a plate
and he ate it by lifting the plate to his mouth to eat the noodles

Sounds like you live with a donk.

Okay. Fuck them then. That's not even cooking. That's...eating not to die.

>> No.4445005

fuck incompetent room-mates, I have one who doesn't know how to:
> cut a bell pepper
> cut an apple
> boil rice
> use common sense

Why don't you teach them to cook? Or better yet, have them buy the ingredients and then you cook.

>have roomates who cant cook for shit
>suggest cooking as an activity
What are you, some kind of sadist? You really feel superior because you can cook better than someone? Grats, you'll make a superior housewife than they will, whoopee.

enjoy your overpriced NaCl with gipsum...

Not OP but a friend gave me a chuck of it once. Honestly I didn't taste any difference between it and regular salts. It was cool for tequila though because it's basically a giant salt lick.

I have to agree with this. If you know that none of them can cook, why put yourself through this?

I flat out told him no fucking way.

Maybe Anon didn't know, and just presumed the people they live with could at least stick with fairly safe and obvious combinations like "tomato sauce with the pasta". If anything, though, I'd think they're likely just thinking up something they presume would be more impressive just for being "out on a limb", as it were, and could be persuaded into replacing the dumber parts of their ideas with better ones. Maybe not, but I think trying that'd be better than giving up or instantly being scornful about it.
