2048 seems optimistic. Bluefin tuna is going for a million bucks per fish in Tokyo now. Even something as ordinary as grey sole is now stupidly expensive.

We'll slowly get used to only having shrimp and crab and tilapia, and then compressed plankton blocks will become a thing. Then in 2037 two shitty countries that no one cares about will have a small nuclear exchange that will spiral out of control, and we won't be worrying about fish anymore after that.

And the seal population has exploded ever since the Marine Mammal Proection Act was instituted in 1972.
So now we have seal populations exploding, eating boatloads of fish, and attracting more sharks.

Here in Europe almost all those fisheries or however you spell it are getting very big government subsidies so they don't go bankrupt.
Spain and Belgium being the worse.

The fishers can't get profit in European waters anymore, they go to Morroco use the money from subsidies to get contracts so they can fish there (or other third world nations).
