I actually haven't had tequila in like 3 years. This Espolon stuff is really cheap for a 100% agave. Got it for $22, and it tastes right.

>> No.4143230

>>4143001
espolon is meh... its fine if your on a budget. whats your limit on spending for a bottle?

>> No.4143241

>>4143230
Not the guy you're talking to, but I would be willing to spend up to ~40 on a bottle of tequila, mainly to sip on every now and then.

Any recommendations?

>> No.4143249

>>4142935
Hell yeah, I've had both of these bottles within the last month, except I got the Espolon reposado.

They were both pretty good. The espolon wasn't balanced enough for sipping, but it made a damn good margarita.

Rittenhouse made a great manhattan, also had great luck mixing it with some Junior Johnson Midnight Moon cherry (also 100 proof) in a few cocktails. It's kinda like deconstructed bourbon, and rye goes great with cherry. Think what you want of corn liquor, it has its place in my cabinet.

For ~40 I'd try Cazadores reposado or anejo.

It's not really mind blowing, but it's more flavorful than Patron and very well balanced and integrated, a tequila you can linger on.

Any blanco tequila enthusiasts care to make recs? I've had Corralejos, which had an interesting funk to it. I assume that's the agave.

What's cheap, and isn't beer? Preferably something decent tasting.

I want to get drunk but usually don't drink.

There is a fine line between just violently ill and actual alcohol poisoning, but once you cross it you'll know. And by "you", I mean your doctor, your insurance company, your immediate circle of friends, and your family.

And this is the kind of thinking that brings you there.

Been meaning to try rittenhouse, just recently getting into ryes, I usually drink bourbon. I actually got a bottle of Bulleit Rye this week and drinking it right now, it's really good.

I'm looking to try a peaty scotch, thinking a Laphroaig. Any suggestions?

>> No.4143368

>>4143357

Lagavulin 16 is a much better entry to peat. Considering how Laphroaig has jumped in price by 30% or more in the past 3 years, it's suddenly much less attractive when you can have something truly beautiful for only another 20 bucks or so.

Not saying lafroog is bad, but the main reason /ck/ likes it so much is it's the least expensive of the super smoky islays that is available nearly everywhere.

I'll have to give it a shot, then. I heard LaFroy Quarter Cask was got-tier

>> No.4143378

Good post, OP. Was drinking a big glass of Rittenhouse 100 while cooking a veggie stir fry tonight. Rye whiskey owns.

>> No.4143386

>>4143373

Quarter Cask is really good, but keep in mind it isn't as smoky as the regular 10 year old. It's a little more on the sweet\medicinal side.

10 year old, Cask strength is where its at though. Laphroaig at 58% ABV is truly a sight to behold.

Ardbeg is my favorite peaty whisky, but it's become too expensive for its own good lately IMO. I agree with >>4143368
that Lagavulin is probably a better choice nowadays. That said, if you ever see Ardbeg Uigeadail on for a decent price, grab it because it's awesome.

Personally, I generally drink either bourbon, rye, or brandy (cognac/armagnac primarily). Right now I'm sipping on some Darroze 1972 I got for Christmas that's extremely good.

It's a balanced mix of peppery spice and the smokiness from the agave smoking with a light fruity agave undertone. It's rather reserved with a clean delivery.

Going to buy a bottle of St George No. 21 single malt. I went to a seminar of theirs on Wednesday, and that one blew me away. I already have their terroir gin and absinthe, it's all really good, but this whiskey is top notch.

>but muh precious elixer

Protip: any liquor that you can name is made in huge industrial vats and transported by the supertanker to the bottling plant. There is no such thing as "wasting" liquor. Especially not vodka. If the thought of someone else doing what they want with their liquor bothers you, I can guarantee you're too poor to be wasting money on alcohol, period. Finish school, get a job, then we can talk.

Do it, son. A friend of mine drinks a fifth of Williams every night. As soon as he gets off work ('xecutive chef) he starts drinking, falls asleep around 8, wakes up every half hour or so to drink more. Two or three shots in the morning prevents a hangover, then he's off to work again. This is the road you're headed down. Sounds like fun? Do it; post results.

The only one thats any good is the one thats red, cant really make out what the one on the bottom is thou, is it a mixto or or a pure one?
Tthe one in the middle is a mixto, and by that its of much lower quality and worse then all pures.
The red one is really good, so congrats to that one.
