Hey guys, i recently bought a packet of frozen vegetables to use when i'm pressed for time and need a quick meal.

One problem though : no matter how i cook the vegetables, the carrots taste EXTREMLY bitter.

What gives?

Microwave and boiling...same problem. All the other vegetables taste fine, the carrots taste bitter and metallic.

Buy a different brand. Problem solved.

the problem is ive had this happen with two different brands, so im starting to think its not the problem ofthe company....

Cook your carrots for longer periods to bring out the sweet flavors, and buy other types of carrots (carrots that actually look different, not just in a different bag)

You're eating carrots that didn't get enough water.

Separate brands and same problem? Then it's you. Stop eating the carrots.

what?

I'm boiling frozen vegetables...

ALSO don't store your carrots with apples, pears or any other rose-family plants.

The gas they emit will make your carrots more bitter.

Boil them for longer.

... Go on ... Finish the thought...

>put in bowl with a little water
>cover with paper towel
>microwave for 4 minutes

If they taste weird there is something wrong with you, not the vegetables.

i already boiled them till they were mushy. It didnt help.

You can try removing the skins or cores, but it won't really help. Try buying carrots from a different supermarket.

Buy fresh carrots would be the obvious choice. Carrots keep well and long. Another option is to add salt, butter, majoram and honey to your carrots rather than enjoy them as-is.

Another possibility is that you just plain don't like carrots. I've never found them bitter myself.

thing is, fresh carrots taste fine for me.

I just want frozen vegetables for convenience sometimes, but they almost always contain carrots....
