Veggie beef used in tacos is sold as a block of crumbled flavored and textured soy. It doesn't look too bad, but you can't eat it like that.

You put ~1 cup of water in. (a little more is always better) You also dump the taco seasoning packet in. I didn't have it a seasoning packet, so I just mixed spices I had around the house.

Tip - use a 2-3 teaspoon of curry powder as well the onion, red pepper flake etc etc as well as hot sauce

Stir the water and the sauce frequently. Parts may burn while others may not if you don't as it likes to stick to the bottom of the pan.

Once it's done it should look like..

I really enjoy veggie beef nachos. This is what they look like here. It's just normal nacho covered in veggie beef, cheese, spices, salsa, and so on. I serve them with sour cream and cilantro. As I was invited to a gathering I thought I would make things, but sadly my offer was declined?!

The veggie beef was off. I wasn't sure if the blend I used had dairy products or non-vegan sugar or the 1001 things vegan scan eat that I, a vegetarian who also observe halal yet has no issue cooking meat and fish for others, can.

So, I made my own filling.

I steamed broccerli, barley chopped some onions, barley chopped some tomatoes, barley chopped some garlic, and took my normal spice blend that I use on the "mexican tofu" you see above and added in some veggie oil plus lots of hot sauce. Oh, what did I do with it? I said fuck his shit and blended it. Half way through I added in cilantro and parsley plus a tiny bit of basil and even more curry powder and red pepper flakes plus hot sauce.

My flatmate said this looks gross and no one is going to eat this. I agree, so I did the second step and dumped it in a pan on medium heat. 10 minutes later the oil glob bits were gone and it looked like vegan taco filling!!!

I still wanted vegetarian food, who can turn down mex-cheese?!, so I took out the foil.

On one side I made it vegan, and the other vegetarian. The vegan side was completely encased by the foil, you could have lifted the foil out and used it as a bowl really, and put that in the oven to baked for 15-20 minutes. Here is the so-so picture of the results. The good picture below will tell you what makes one different than the other!

-vegan taco filling, extra

-pineapple salsa (yes it had vegan sugar!)

-nothing on side

Vegetarian side
-MEXICAN CHEESE
-pico de gallo with a tad of normal sugar
-a little hot sauce
-nachos
-vegan taco blend filling thingy
-garlic powder
-sour cream on side

Cook tri-color rotini, and once the pasta is in the big pot take a medium size pot and put it on medium flame.

Add olive oil, garlic salt, onion salt, cenyee (oh cenyee! It's also in the mexican stuff, sorry!), dried basil, dried parsley, and dried oregano. Once the oil is sizziling add in a half cup of broccerli that you defrosted/cooked by putting it in the microwave for two minutes. Once the broccerli is soft, so like 2 more minutes, the pasta should be done.

Drain the pasta and dump it in the put. STIR IT VERY VERY FAST and put the flame on medium-high (you probly lowered it to not burn the spices after the inital shock for heating it all quick). There. Lunch in 10 minutes!

Serve with salad or random crappy frozen fish dish.

Don't taste as food as the restaurant? Lack some spice?

Microwave broccerli again to quickly defrost it, and then put it in a pan with chopped garlic, chopped parsley, and chopped oregano plus a bit of black pepper and onioin salt. Cook it all together for 10-15 minutes until all the oil is gone but the pan is still very hot and add in the pasta.

As the pasta cooked on the stove put the breadsticks in the oven. Another tip- right before going ask for extra breadsticks. Once they give it to you ask for a to-go bag for them.

Serve like so!

This doesn't work for a lot of their dishes, but it sure as Ash loves Pikachu made the alfredo taste better!

Add leftover red sauce, like a third of a jar, to the oil. Make sure nearly all the oil is gone though so don't add too much like in the other dish that relies on oil for a sauce.

Serve with ricotta. Put parsley on top for extra fancy ricotta.

This is great for when you have left over red sauce and left over ricotta from cooking baked ziti.

There's meat. The first dishes from Eid al Adha are heavy on the meat excluding the baked ziti.

I don't cook meat often I don't eat it, and it's hard for me to buy. I need to buy halal meat which is Muslim-Kosher for lack of a better term. There isn't much of a price difference, but as my meat eating friends don't request for me to cook meat for them often I end up never stocking up on it and cooking with it even less.

If you have it, buy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broccolini rather than normal broccerli.

You chop it up chunky, and put it in a bowl. You then finely chop elephant garlic, parsley, oregano, and maybe even half a teaspoon of basil. Place this is another bowl.

Take out your spices, onion salt and cenyee pepper and parmigiana plus sea salt for the pasta water. Set it aside

Now you start to boil the water in a big pot. Use a lot of water since the gnocchis rise when done-- you don't want them sitting on top of teach other when cooking. Hold back on salting the water till one moment before you dump the to-be-cooked gnocchi package in.

Take a large pan, one where you could put everything in and serve with, and coat it with oil. Once the oil is heated add the brcolini. Saute it for 3-4 minutes. Now add the garlic etc bowl. Once the garlic is browned you add the spices. Let it all cook together for 2 minutes, and now you should be ready to add the gnocchi to the water with the sea salt.

Once this is done, the oil needs to be nearly gone. Add in jar alfredo now. I like to use http://www.classico.com/light-alfredo-sauces/light-asiago-romano-alfredo-pasta-sauce.aspx..

Stir in the spices+seasoning+brocolini int othe sauce. You should have streaks of oil in there, that's ok, just keep on stirring. After a minute or so of doing that put it on medium heat, should be on low heat when sauteeing (or i do that b/c i'm afraid of fires), Once the alfredo begins to bubble stir it again. Turn down to low heat after a minute of bubbling.

>> No.4007474

>>4007471

Gnoccho should be done now. Strain them. Let them sit as you add in some parm to the sauce. Once the fresh parm is stirred in, add the gnocchi. Just make sure the sauce covers all the past, my picture actually has too much sauce, and then cover it. Let it cook for 2 or 3 minutes before serving straight from the pan onto people's plates.

Serve with garlic bread and salad. :) Have pepper and parm on the side for picky eaters who need even more spice to their food.

I do work on a budget as in.. I list what I want to make tonight and try to make it cheaply. If the stuff ends being too expensive I simply put it back, cry in a cornet, and make something else for the night.

I have this huge fetish where I like to see all the grocery items, I bought from my trip all neatly placed together like one happy family of foods that will make me happy as I use and eat my way through all of them. :)

Care to indulge me?

PS. I'm not a woman, although my post would give that impression.

It's okay man. I'm the hairy barrel-chested descendent of alpine mercenaries, and I have recurring dreams of visiting a small restaurant and market for gourmet items and hand-crafted goods at a reasonable price with friendly patrons, mongers, and artisans.

...I've tried to drive there. Several times. I end up facing a one-way street in the suburbs.

We could go shopping at the local farmer's market together every week. Take in samples of fresh cheese and honey with locally grown dates. Argue about which stall sells the best mushrooms for a winter soup. Everyone would think we're gay, but really we're just two dudes with a love for great food.

;_;

does anyone want to know how to cook stuffs?

Trader Joe's has a reputation for having better quality stuff right? Sorry, I'm from Canada here.

I didn't even know things like "baby broccoli" and persian cucumbers existed. These little food discoveries please me.

Thank you for the thread, OP.

Yes, it's better quality. It's usually a lot fresher, has random stuff (like you mentioned, but then a small location might lack a simple thing like mozzarella sticks), and ends up costing less.

Since no one guessed- all that food cost me 112$. If I would've gone to the major supermarket, it would've been 250$ at least since some of the stuff like little broccerli is rare.
