Taco Belle? Mexican food hasn't been fashionable here since the early 00s. And their quality is questionable. Feels like in the US they run on nostalgia mostly

there are plenty small scale Donut shops and Dunkin Donuts also exists. Meanwhile there is no real "Fast Food" Mexican franchise here. All Mexican places are usually regular restaurant sized, so if Taco Bell does a decent price/quality ratio it might create a niche for itself.

taco bell in the US is the cheapest and also the shittiest quality but it tastes good. its notorious for being stoner or drunk food because it's just cheap fat carbs taste that goes in your mouth hole.

i can see them being way higher quality in Europe than they are in the US though. it will completely fail otherwise.

I meant more how taco bell is gigaslop and no single item on their menu is a meal because it's all tiny and filled with FTB, rice, corn chips, and liquid cheese. In terms of food preparation quality they are the lowest of the low but it tastes good so people still patronize. I dont know if their model will work in Europe outside of a dirty university town.

Regulation wise, the differences between USA and EU is:
-EU bans random additives (food colorings). There's probably logic behind this, but I doubt there's really much effect, this stuff is mostly in items where if you're eating significant amounts of it you've already lost (Doritos doesn't become healthy because you remove Red 40). Pretty much there's a higher bar on testing for additives in EU, but I doubt this really effects food quality since its mostly ultra-processed foods it goes in anyways.

-EU bans beef implanted with hormones. This has absolutely no scientific basis and some speculate that its a protectionist policy against US and Australian beef, if they're actually concerned with hormones they'd ban dairy, which has far more than implanted beef. They've also banned washing Chicken with chlorine, not because its unsafe, but because it would allow chicken producers to neglect cleanliness. Note that US meat is cheaper than EU meat despite overall cost of living being much higher in the USA.

I would say regulations don't really matter much. What EU excels at is having lots of bakeries, and therefore access to cheap fresh bread. The only independent bakeries near me are expensive and a loaf of fresh bread from Publix/ Whole Foods cost $5.

So, EU is great for things like bread, but on the flip side I find selection of foreign cuisines to lag behind Anglo countries.

For similar reasoning, if you live in US suburbs or near a city you probably have local bakeries and cheap fresh bread nearby. I also have supermarkets near me that do fresh bread and it's definitely cheaper than $5.
Ironically I guess bread is more expensive in US locations where the cost of living is lower.

That's exactly what I did. Haven't been to a fast food place (or takeout) for nearly half of a year. 1. cant afford it and 2. they have abused their customer base so mercilessly over the past 10 years that they have salted the earth for me. Just to spite them I now try to make close replicas of everything I used to like using stuff from aldis. I put my money where my mouth was, and you're right, that's what you gotta do when it gets this bad.

I don't see how they could have a chance to compete with the local wraps or kebab places. I went to taco bell yesterday because i was too drunk to drive and it was in walking distance. Got 2 of the 5 layer burritos and it was almost zero filling and those things aren't even cheap anymore. Even with a 2 for 1 i had on the app i still felt ripped off. Should have just gone to the gyro place next to it and paid 3 bucks more to get actual food.

You're exactly right and even if they adopted the 100% beef approach, they'd really have to shore up their other bottom-of-the-barrel menu items like the one you just mentioned. I doubt you'll be ablt to pull the same shit with germans as you would with your average walmart shopper that keeps them afloat these days. The last time I was in one it smelled like raw sewage inside.
Kebabs and shawarmas are delicious. I've started putting them in my regular cooking rotation. Damn they're good but you need some good yogurt-garlic sauce and other dippings for them to not be too dry.

I imagine Taco Bell would do fairly well in Krautland. Krispy Kreme will fail miserably though. You Krauts tend to have some great bakeries and Krispy Kreme is the lowest of the low even here in the US. They've somehow managed to make bread out of nothing but sugar and grease, which while impressive, is fucking horrible.
Taco Bell, while being comprised of cheap mystery meat, "cheese" and grease is at least fantastic after a long night chugging beer at the bar when nothing else is open. Cram a crunch wrap with Diablo sauce while you're drunk, pretty satisfying. I'd never eat taco bell sober though.
I wonder if Krauts would have their own menu items. Like, maybe a shitty currywurst taco or something.
I just realized thinking about this that taco bell would improve drastically if they replaced their shitty wilted lettuce with sauerkraut.

It's going to be quite different from US TB, I can guarantee it. The supply chain being Europe-based alone means different (likely higher) quality meat and vegetables. They will undoubtedly have menu items catering more to local tastes as well. For an example of quality difference, KFC in America is total dogshit, but KFC is actually good overseas.
