Also, this sounds dumb. Why would high-income shoppers be shopping at Walmart due to "difficult economic conditions" if they were rich and not poor? It sounds more like they are making these fake premium products to try to squeeze more money out of people who are bad at money management.
I mean, I get why high-income shoppers might shop at Walmart if they want to purchase a bunch of products cheaply for themselves, while buying a few expensive things from other retailers to show off to their friends, but...

It reminds me of the Gordon Ramsay line Wal-Mart rolled out, which cost twice as much as the same food in a less fancy box.
Wal-Mart does have data showing that more of their customers are from higher income groups than before but I wonder if that's mostly people panicking over food prices trying to do something to reduce costs but will end up going back to their regular grocery stores once they've become tired of the long lines, crazy parking lots, and weird customers at Wal-Mart. Premium foods might appeal to higher income shoppers but if it takes them half an hour to checkout while being surrounded by the type of people they'd call the cops on if seen in their neighborhood, they're not going to last long as customers.

Looks like a play for the "small pleasures" market. During the Great Depression sales of tickets to see movies went up because it was a small and affordable pleasure most could afford. Walmart will play these up as if they're for wealthy people, while pricing them to be an affordable luxury for the regular shopper.

Walmart home delivery is now competing with Amazon's Whole Foods delivery. In my area, they both offer free unlimited delivery for premium members. They will both literally send a wagie to deliver hundreds of pounds of groceries within a few hours, for free, as many times as I want.
