Was buying coffee from Walmart and the 11.8 Oz size that used to be 14.2 Oz size about 5 months ago, all pretty much around the same price in the 4-5 dollar range,is now a 9.3 Oz size, and it was so recent that the 11.8 sticker tags didn't even get replaced yet, but were still charged the same price. I believe costs are up, but if it's gotten so bad that these are the actual numbers for their revenue, especially after pretty much most products sized being downsized 10-50% in total volume while still also having their price while the prices still increased 5-80%, then things have to be really bad. In general prices are up at a slightly elevated rate of 3.5% annual inflation over the last 4 years. This is up from the ~2-2.5% people usually expect.

We had a big spike from 2020 to 2021/2022 during the recovery, but we've flattened out since then.

Though processed foods and things like fast food are their own beasts. I think those are up like 4-5% annual inflation. But you really shouldn't anchor to garbage food.

But I generally do stick to mostly whole or non processed foods where I can, but yes fast food in my area atleast has become insanely overpriced, last time I went to McDonald's couple months or so ago all mcchickens were 4.69 just for the sandwiches.. and I don't think a single item there was less than 3.50 besides the apple slices or small soda I believe.
