It's one of those things like expensive downtown areas. It's a tax you pay to have an outing without ghetto minorities involved.

Five buck chuck is pretty decent for table wine.

The quality of the people around you rise considerably. If you go to Walmart, you'll see nothing but ugly people and lowlifes

What the fuck? Even Whole Foods isn't like this.

They have a really good frozen section and lots of TJ-brand items that are either very high quality or very cheap, sometimes both.

snacks and such are overpriced. cheese and bread is top tier. you have to know what to buy here.

>> No.20045693

This store is literally made for single childless career women. Every item in the store caters to their needs, offering tons of things that seem "healthy," plenty of fruits and veggies and salad shit, but also decadent sweets and snacks. Additionally, it's all in smaller package sizes/quantities, so they don't feel too guilty for crushing a family size tub of macaroni and cheese in one depressed night while they watch Netflix alone.

This.
Specific things are fantastic. Personally I've always been underwhelmed by the cheese-- good selection but average quality, and the only good bread is the sourdough. But they have great nuts and a handful of other things. Frozen naan, tomato bruschetta, dark chocolate peanut butter cups. But they also change recipes/vendors sometimes and quality can decline.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a black person in a Trader Joes before, not even as an employee. Its all middle-class White people with the occasional Pajeet or Asian sprinkled in

its just American Aldis, the suckers all buy overpriced snackfoods and the normal groceries are significantly cheaper than whatever Krogerslop is in your area.
Produce must be consumed immediately - they blatantly use a just-in-time system to lower prices.
Their meat and cheeses are wildly inconsistent, but still better than most non-local options.

For the doubters like >>20045703, Joe Coulombe (the original trader joe) stated as much in his book he wrote about his time running the company. He said they explicitly targets areas populated by the affluent childless, or at least whose children dont live with them anymore.

Its a fascinating and enlightening book, everybody should read it. It will answer many of your questions OP.

These are the 3 best frozen items there and literally all I buy from there. I tried the broccoli beef but it's spicy for some reason and not in a good way.

I think you're wrong when talking about the whole store but you're absolutely right when you're talking Trader Joe's branded frozen food.
That stuff is without exaggeration, Hungry Man but for single childless career women.

And then I'd be chased by a mob of hippies.

I like the seeds, the olives, the taco spice mix, the frozen mac and cheese, and the canned stuffed grape leaves. I think their juice is the same as Whole Foods store brand. I don't get anything fresh there but I think the store near me is smaller than normal.
Their bean dip was good but I think they stopped selling it.
