Pepsi, like it's root beer equivalent Bang's, has more of a bite to it, while Coca-Cola has a softer, subtler mouthfeel that is often more appealing to a sensitive palette. I think that stems from when coke had actual Cocaine in it while Pepsi was a unique concoction sans drugs. It was a cure-all for dyspepsia, and can still be used today for tummy aches. While coke's recipe has changed over time, Pepsi remains truer to its original recipe. Did you know Pepsi was one of the first brands to hire a team of black ambassadors during American segregation? While Coca-Cola saw controversy for supporting the KKK.

I agree. Pepsi is decidedly sweeter and lower in carbonation in comparison. Coke is more acidic and somehow more 'refined'.
There's something special there that Pepsi just tries to achieve with extra sugar/HFCS but fails at.

But when it comes to diet colas I'll take a Diet Pepsi over a Diet Coke ANY day of the week. No idea why this is the case. Either way, I don't drink caffeine or sugar anymore so I haven't enjoyed any of them in a long while.

We get it, you feel the exact opposite of everybody else. Even people who prefer Pepsi will usually concede that it's the simpler, sweeter one and that's why they like it.

If you better rationalize this by declaring yourself of superior tasting ability and everyone else is somehow tongue-stupid, then so be it. But we all know what you are and what you're doing; over-defending your choice with unfitting snobbery.

>> No.19880057

>>19879794
No, some of us actually discern differing flavors with our senses. Sure, there's advertising and brand loyalty, but there's more to it than that. Some people change teams as they age.

There was a really good in-depth NPR program I heard a few years ago about the recipes of major soda brands and how competitors try and crack them. There's a lot to it. Store brands each try and make their own signature colas stand out it different ways by leaning on different amounts of the key ingredients. There are all sorts of citrus oils involved.

>Vanilla, raisins, and gasoline

I know you're kidding, but those are certainly on the flavor wheel. Not how I'd describe any colas I've had, but those words are good descriptors of other related flavors.

There's raisin paste in A-1 Steak Sauce. The more you know.

But you're attributing your supposedly "sharper" senses to you "correctly" preferring Pepsi to Coke. And you're using that choice to support the claim that your senses are sharper. Like suddenly Pepsi is objectively better because you think you perceive the total opposite of what everyone else reports. Whatever. The rest of us think Pepsi is sweeter, thicker, flatter, and has far less variety in perceivable subtle notes. You probably have flavor schizophrenia, like those "magic" berries you can eat which short-circuit your taste buds and put your mouth on high-contrast negative mode where sweet is sour and salty is bitter and vice versa all around. You have bad wiring, not superior tasting ability. Also, use punctuation and capitalization. I feel like I'm arguing with a child on a phone.

I am old enough to remember people dragged out of their settlement houses kicking and screaming, and crying, when the land they built upon was given to Gaza to control.
So, yea, Isreal only controls their own borders, and who comes in and out of their own country. Any poverty, lack of desal and own electricity has been that country's own problem for more than 20 years. Lack of industry, local jobs that aren't in Isreal, no emigration to Arab neighbors, and anything else is related to their own government, not oppression. I'll give you the cliff notes
>holy land populated by Jews and Christians
>Muslims conquer it in the middle ages, systematically purge Jewish and Christian residents
>Muslim-controlled region eventually evolves into Ottoman Empire
>Ottoman Empire collapses after WW1, territory split up between British and French; holy land goes to the British who name it the Mandate of Palestine ('Palestine' is the old Roman name for the region which in the native Hebrew was always called Israel; it is also where the word 'philistine' comes from)
>around this time the Zionist (Jewish romantic) movement is at its peak, Brits decide to allow European Jews to migrate to the Mandate because of it
>Egypt and Jordan offload tens of thousands of Muslims into the Mandate to offset the Jewish migration, not wanting a Jewish state wedged between them (and not wanting non-muslims in control of Jerusalem)
>after WW2, Jewish-majority parts of the Mandate declare independence and name themselves Israel, and the Muslim-majority parts splinter off and name themselves Palestine
Or to make it even shorter, the state of Palestine and the state of Israel are the same age. Both were declared in 1948. Israel is a British colonial state, Palestine is a puppet state for Egypt and Jordan.
Both sides are shitheads, both sides deserve each other. Simping for either is just picking whether you want to suckle from the teat of CNN or Fox News.
