Memes aside, the trick to save money at the grocery store is to buy store brand. Why would you buy like Perdue chicken breast when you could get store brand chicken breast for like half as much money. I get store brand peanut butter and it literally tastes the same as skippy brand peanut butter. I can understand getting brand name hygiene products like deodorant or shampoo or soap or whatever though. Store brand pasta is like a dollar for goddsake.

We don't buy enough prepackaged food where switching to store brand would make a significant dent in our budget. I do buy store brand milk, tho, when I don't feel like driving to the slightly farther (and I do mean slightly; not even a half mile) store to buy raw milk.

Kroger is legitimately the best place for store brand shit. You can either get bootleg "Kroger" products for way cheaper than brand name, or Kroger "Private Label" shit that is measurably cheaper than it's counterpart, but often better quality. For example, I will never buy crushed tomatoes from a brand name (except maybe Muir Glen or Cento) because Kroger crushed tomatoes are just white label Red Gold (at least in Indiana). Private Label pasta is another example. All the weird shapes, cheaper, better than 98% of other dried pastas.
