If they are Scousers, then they know of steak n kidney. The Kidney is kind of textured like a large, half cooked button mushroom, with an ironish flavour. It's not central but complementary to the pie.

As a kiwi, I've never seen a pie from the UK that looked better than a $1 pie from the dairy.
Why do they always have a crumbly biscuit pastry???
Why is it always so basic? Mince, Steak, Steak and onion, Steak and kidney, Steak and Guinness... yawn

Where's the Steak Bacon & Cheese, the Chicken Bacon Mushroom, the Roast Pork & Watercress, the Steak Bacon and Mushroom, the Thai Green Chicken, the Bacon Egg & Cheese, the All-Day Breakfast, the NY Peppered Steak and Caramelised Onions, the Apricot Chicken Camembert and my favourite the Chicken Bacon Asparagus and Cream Cheese?
If you haven't got pies like this, nobodies coming to your bakery, if you've got them all there's a line out the door.
