Yes it is how it works out. Literally every single thing in every import store (Nijiya, Ranch 99, etc) has a Prop 85 warning on it because it is cheaper to put the warning on everything rather than figure out what really needs it. Almost every office building has a Prop 85 warning on the front because they occasionally use WD-40 to lube door hinges. It's a complete joke.

you know how diet soda's and now all these ZERO CALORIE SODA's no longer use nutrasweet and such???
and they say it causes cancer, allergic reactions and such????
it's because a VERY RARE, GENETICALLY INBRED GROUP OF LITERAL SON/DAUGHTER FAMILY IN CALIFORNIA, who had massive genetic defects to the point of their bodies breaking down and dying before they get to their thirties without medical intervention, were found to be allergic to the active ingredient to nutrasweet, this was used to "ramp up" the interest and switching to different zero calorie sweeteners movement that took off in California and elsewhere(facebook false info/advertisements) this alone fucked over anyone that depend on diet/zero calorie soda's and foods/drinks

also America is going back to olden days of "no booze zones" and shit, so corporate is also going for cheapest and worst alcohol usage in foods/cleaners/etc(thus this warning, that alcohol mentioned is commonly used by corpo's wanting to skimp out on safe alcohol for the cheapest allowable alcohol for cleaning blades and food processors(aka the meat slicers used for the meat in a WHITE CASTLE SLIDER)

>“US EPA concluded that furfuryl alcohol is ‘Likely to be Carcinogenic to Humans’”. “Evidence described in the report[2] includes studies showing that furfuryl alcohol increases the incidence of rare nasal epithelial squamous cell carcinomas and combined nasal epithelial carcinomas and epithelial squamous cell carcinomas in male rats, and rare renal carcinomas and combined carcinomas and adenomas in male mice.” However, even though furfuryl alcohol proved to be carcinogenic in two different species of rodents in a two year study, the study was performed using inhalation, rather than oral exposure. Therefore, the results may not be particularly relevant for furfuryl alcohol exposure from food.

> Furfuryl alcohol in food is either naturally present or present as the result of an act of man such as in the baking of bread or roasting of coffee, which produces furfuryl alcohol as the result of the Maillard reaction. Furfuryl alcohol has been found both as naturally present and as an act of man in wheat and white bread, crispbread, coffee, black tea, microbial fermented tea, soybean, fresh plum, heated beans, rice bran, quince, malt, peated malt, Bourbon vanilla, wild rice, fermented shrimp, roasted almonds, cooked apple, apple juice, roasted barley, beans, beef fat, canned beef stew, beer, brandy, cocoa, cocoa beans, coffee, roasted coffee, roasted filberts, honey, heated skim milk, dried mushrooms, roasted onion, yellow passion fruit, roasted peanuts, pineapple, popcorn, potato chips, roasted sesame seeds and other foods.[4]

>As an added food ingredient, furfuryl alcohol (often made from roasted corn cobs or sugar cane bagasse) is used as a flavoring agent to contribute brown, subtly smoky notes to Indonesian-type vanilla flavors, bacon and other smoked meats, lapsang souchong tea, whiskey, grain, coffee and barbecue flavors.[5]

Prop 65 is probably the stupidest implementation of a warning on a label ever introduced.

It is not the dose, which is what matters. It is if the product contains, which is stupid. There are carcinogenic chemicals which exist in the ground and are naturally occurring.

You could argue that the person who reads the label has no understanding and that to provide the dose you are receiving per serving may be too hard for the general public to grasp, industry has to give up trade secrets, not enough research to actually tell you what gives cancer in what dose BUT THAT IS WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS. So by everything being labeled with a prop 65 warning it's pointless and doesn't actually help consumer pick out what should be safe.

>everything being labeled with a prop 65 warning it's pointless and doesn't actually help consumer pick out what should be safe.

on face value it helped me realize california politics is retarded. the fact that something like that even passed where you can just wave your hand over all products sold in the store and claim its bad and unhealthy. it is atrocious behavior and needs ot be corrected if you want me to take california seriously.

Oh, ok then. Thanks for the informative post. But to be fair:
In an American food products the first thought always is (and sadly, rightfully so) that something inedible/toxic has been added because it’s makes the end product .5c cheaper and thus makes the manufacturer more profit, which of course easily beats any consumer protection (you fuckers add bromates to your bread. WTF is wrong with you sick fucks?).

Putting my n some things, no matter the dosage, is criminal too.
I get your point and California went full retard on that one, but for American food, the default assumption should be that the corporation making the stuff is trying to kill you on purpose, because it’s makes them more money and they’re allowed to do so by law and Americans like it that way (must be a freedom thing …).
