Here the Colombia beans with the O I L Y goffee.

So, this has been brewed with the moka pot and I confirm the fruit explosion with mild-medium low acidity, however brewing with the moka (this coffee has been roasted for espresso/moka and not for filter) there’s a strong aroma of ripe tropical fruits, I definitely can taste mango and something like banana and papaya, but there’s more I can’t decipher.

The texture is interesting because it’s like a rollercoaster, you get hit with the fruit, then there’s the acidity which grows with a hint of bitter, then everything balances out for a persistent banana and chocolate finish with a dash of caramel.

This is a good coffee, indeed, I need to understand how it works with milk but I think that given the fruity profile this would work well with the Aeropress for longer cups.

Caffè Verrè has shipped my order so hopefully tomorrow I’ll have the E&B filter and can report (You)s about brewing this coffy with the Aeropiss while keeping the precious oils.

Fuck this disgraceful bitter piss maker.

There is not a single time it made remotely good coffee and I've tried everything.

-remove early and cool with cold water

Adjusting variables like flame power, brew time, coffee amount, doesn't even produce different results.

Have you ever seen that on every single coffee related website and media pieces featuring “baristas” are centered towards images of hobo looking people with funny hair and most of their body covered in disgusting tattoos? These are leftists.

They’re the same people who care for minorities and women rights so, roasters make these stunts to sell more coffee to these people.

It’s literally that simple, nobody cares for minorities and women and despite this, you can be sure that these women make 40-50% of the farming job but the rest of the work, aka the more labour intense parts, are made by men. Guaranteed.

i got filtered by the moka pot too. no matter how hard i try, i prefer the coffee i get by every single other brewing method i use - french press, v60, espresso
i will say this though, for milk drinks, the moka pot blows the french press and v60 out of the water for me. there's just a certain intensity to the brew that makes it perfect for pairing with milk. combining v60 or french press with milk just produces a way weaker coffee flavor for me. i keep the moka pot around just for that purpose

Bros, the E&B Aeropress 150 micron filter is here.

I already tried it and didn't go well actually:

1) as soon as I did the inverted method and rotated the aeropress, some coffee spilled out and I guess that it's because the filter doesn't cover all the bottom of the aeropress cap like the paper filters, so some coffee escaped from the exposed parts of the sides

2) I grinded for espresso @ 1.6.5 on my JX Pro and while the coffee was richer in body, it was full of grit and dust, I could feel in my mouth the particles as if I was drinking sand in my coffee.

Question: with a metal filter should I grind coarser to avoid what I said in point 2) ? I didn't expect that.

>>19412171
You're not using the right amount of coffee, it's too little for the funnel.

Are you using pre ground or fresh beans?

If the latter: fill your funnel with beans until they stick out a little from the top of the border, grind these beans and fill the funnel with the ground coffee then gently press it down to level the puck so it stands flat.

If you're using pre ground: fill the funnel with coffee and add a touch more so it's slightly overfilled and do the same as above, press it until flat and even.

I suspected that too...however, how do I adjust my recipe for the Aeropresso now?

With paper filter I used to grind for espresso, 30 seconds bloom, stir and 1 minute steeping.

If I grind coarser, say 2.0.0, do I need to either stir for more time and/or increase the steeping time to achieve the same result as before?

also maybe because i have been immersed in such low fidelity vinyl/cassette rips for so long but that track feels so clean and sterile its like its got a hole in it or something.
like sleeping in a glass house.
glad you enjoy it tho :)
oh could also be my audio setup being too cheap to feel/hear the same things you might be feeling/hearing
i was born with tinnitus that i have been suffering from since i can remember. so i figure why invest alot into audio when i have a hard cap on the level of audio quality that i can actually perceive.
so for me coffee makes more sense to invest into because i have an extremely good(sensitive) sense of smell and taste.

One endgame at a time my friend. Coffee was pretty easy for me. Get a good baseline, learn to roast, upgrade for convenience/gains, then have the equipment to properly deal with danker and danker beans. Audio is a whole different rabbit hole and vinyl is a fucking black hole into that so I stick to pirating good flac rips. I like simple and cheap, and the longer I can hold out the cheaper great gear gets.I only upgraded from the $99 schiit because I got a steal on the soncoz used, so now my system is a bit "unbalanced". Vali is definitely the bottleneck now but when I swap that out my cans could use retiring. Anyways enjoy the goffee. I'll roast up a test batch of each of the burundis tomorrow and probably sample on the gesha I roasted on 6/12.

Today is lgbt iron guard demitasse day.
First cup of >>19411562 was 18g in 80g out in 25s, too coarse. But not undrinkable. Bitterness from overextraction is present. The flavours are not in a state of equilibrium. Choco nuts flavours are hiding, they're present but not upfront, like a haze in the aromas.
Second was 18g:52g in 25s. Better but still not dialed in. In fact it already tastes good. Like a proper choco nutty caramely drink but the accentuated aroma is choco. The flavours are distinc as if a veil was removed.
Shit's heavenly. Only tried espresso so far no sugar nor milk.

usually i have no sense of hunger or desire to eat before my first sip of coffee
so i will usually start making breakfast while making coffee so its ready by the time i finish
or make something simple like just a bowl of yoghurt or sunny side up egg on toast.
and then have a larger lunch or lunch + afternoon tea around 1-2pm which can often be when i have my second coffee
and then a medium dinner at 6-7pm and then around 8-9pm is the time of my second(if i didnt have it at lunch) or third coffee of the day.
caffeine has little effect on when or how long or the quality of my sleep so a 9pm 6 cup moka 150-160 ml yield coffee is perfectly ok.

Aeropress E&B anon here.

It’s a spectacular failure.

Ground @ 2.0.0 and made a first coffee using the Aeropress vertically: as soon as I poured hot water on the ground coffee the water fell instantly in the cup under. Thrown everything away.

Made a second coffee with the inverted method, when I inverted the Aeropress coffee spilled and when I pressed there was zero resistance, zero, all the coffee was out in 5 seconds at best.

There’s still a lot of fine grit and it disturbs me greatly because it’s astringent and rough in my mouth. Unacceptable, this isn’t like moka AT ALL.

Also, the filter doesn’t seal the edges of the Aeropress cap, there’s space and exposed holes at the side, unless with paper filters.

So anons, did I just lose 18€ or am I doing something wrong.

I’m considering buying the Prismo from Amazon so I can send it back if I don’t like it.

No secret memes, I just asked him if he saw anything glaringly wrong with an early revision while I was putting it together.
>why are most of them so premium
People pay for dumb shit in a niche market + Doug Weber's "apple tax". A decade+ ago the mazzer robur was a respectable grinder(Titan grinder project 2007 on hb forums), now we've learned a bit more. You do know the original hg1 also fit the 71mm cones out of the single phase robur right? Same burrs the helor 106/flux took, and you could mod the it to take the 83mms too. You might be able to find one of those cheap in australia.
>Gene Cafe CBR-101

>could you post some pics of the burundi beans when you get around to roasting them please
I'll try to get some webms up tomorrow if I've got decent light. Coldbrewing up 50g of the brazil elephant just to get rid of them faster. I'm back to having too much roasted coffee. I've got various amounts of guat, 3 columbians, 3 ethiopians, 2 brazilians, and I think some bali all ready to be consoomed. Tomorrow might just be a 100g day to clear some space for burundis.

Probably because of that titan grinder project thread. It was the big, popular commercial burr set that people wanted to try, but getting a 3phase robur into your kitchen was a hard sell. Not only the size and inconvenience, but very very few homes are wired for powering industrial motors, so the few who had access to using them would shitpost on homebarista about gooey blendy godshots and lynweber(before the split) cornered the market by making it widely available. Now that they're established a market and a price point, you have clones like the malwani livi I showed you a while back. You have to realize TGP predates the popularity of the ek43 by years. Ek43 was a shitty bag/spice grinder for decades before Matt Perger used it at WBC2011 and people realized it worked pretty fucking well for single dosing espresso.

>like the malwani livi I showed you a while back.
oh yeh i remember that, its and interesting take on the format.
i would never buy it over the weber or the craig lyn tho.
especially since its $200 more than the weber and seems to be more fiddly.
and and now i remember why i was so shocked about the price not being in aud this whole time and why i had my freakout a few threads ago, its because the weber website DOES auto change the currency displayed based on your geolocation based on your ip.
and because i was looking at the weber before i changed my main focus to the craig lyn my brain just assumed it would be the same way.
oh, i noticed the weber has a tin coating on their burrs that the craig lyn burrs dont have. does that really affect much?
and it seems to me like both burrs and mounting system is the same so i could just buy the webers burrs and put them in the craig lyn or any other 83mm conical burr set right?

Its $200 more than the weber because its made in germany and they're making way fewer units. Commercial vs "boutique".
>Coating
Coatings do something. Different coefficients of friction change grind rate and heat etc etc, but whether or not you'll be able to pick that apart in the cup is an entirely different matter. Weber supposedly preseasons, then coats their burrs, but you'll still have a break in period. Yeah you can just slot in italmill 83mm as well, but I'm not sure if the hg2/1p are still compatible with the 71mm set though.
>any other 83mm conical burr set right
I'm not sure if the hgs will be compatible, but there's a taiwanese company coming out with a grinder that uses an inhouse designed 83mm cone. 12 "cores"/prebreakers vs the mazzer 83's 10 and mazzer 71's 8. Mx.Cool Aries.

I know very little in the broad scheme of things, I've just done some specific reading to influence my own purchases. A year ago I would have been with you in questioning it, but I watched the "fluffyness" and visual uniformity of grinds coming off my (extremely hard, uncoated) cast steel burrs slowly change over about 40kg. Before that, grinding incredibly fine for light roast 9 bar espresso on a flair58 was heating my hand grinder up to the point it was uncomfortable to touch the body outside the burrs. Heat degrades shit, flavors are sensitive. People who know more than me, and have looked into it, say seasoning matters, particularly on coated burrs. The burr aren't perfectly machined, the vapor coatings don't go on perfect, the entire surface is covered in peaks and pits. Rubbing a bunch of shit across that evens it out over time. Where "seasoning" isn't really a thing for cafes, it absolutely is for home users. A cafe might grind in a day what you grind in months. This image demonstrates what beans are doing to vapor coated steel over time. Apparently Lance Hedrick has actual data on this, but the cucks who let him use their $100k+ laser particle analyzer don't like their shit getting released.

>it boils down to surface preparation before PVD process and which PVD technique is applied

>I have verified proof but people who own lasers have weird rules about releasing data. Potentially for future articles. Stupid gate keeping. Gagne has published some minor proof re: 54mm dittings in his forte. After 15kg much less fines and more unimodal via his particle imaging app

Can someone explain something to me about espresso? People say that it's a pain in the ass to dial in shots, but they talk about it like you have to do it every time you pull a shot. Surely you'd only need to do it once, and only redo it if you switch to a different coffee or something right?

Coffee beans are undergoing constant change. Oxidation, offgassing, differing humidity etc etc. Sure you can lock your grinder and never change it, but you're not going to get the most out of your beans without subtle day to day, shot to shot adjustments. Maybe a touch coarser or finer, maybe a tweak to your input weight, output weight, water temp, pressure. Its a juggling act, but when you nail it you want to chase that flavor you got. This picture is a very simple take on the process. Imagine it more 3 dimensional.
>>19417987
Yeah who knows. Bigger burrs=longer cutting paths=more surface area to (potentially) even out=more beans to run through. Seasoning a single dosing electric like the wug was a bitch.
