I've mixed my bancakes with and without 'powder, and frankly the bubbles are the same. I guess if you use a spoon or shake it like an autist you need baking powder for bubbles but if you use a whisk it's fucking exactly the same

many recipes don't really want to taste like any of their ingredients anon. a well balanced dish, especially a classic dish that has been refined for generations, is looking for layers of flavours or just the right combination of subtleties so that it tastes unique and you can only tell what the ingredients are if you start leaving them out.

you just have no sense of nuance in taste anon. a single peppercorn or a half a bæ leaf can make or break a dish, to anyone who has a sense of taste and doesn't suck down strawberry shortcake vape fumes 45 times a day

I buy my spices online and they're all so much better than the grocery store shit. they cost 1-3 bucks more depending on the item, but the quality is worth it. every time I open up my bag of bay leaves the smell is so fragrant and strong. unless I'm pulling off a complex recipe I try to keep it to 3:2 ratio of spices to herbs. bay leaf is a must for soups, stocks, and brines and works great for some European style dishes. buy better herbs and spices op

Some people taste different things differently. Some people have genetic traits or phenotypes that block certain flavors from being experienced, see dill vs crown dill and/or cilantro/soap.

Also, having a very high salt diet can worsen your taste buds.

Eating a lot of very spicy food can at least CHANGE your taste perception, some research says it can even deaden parts of your sense of taste.

If you truly taste nothing, figure out how much salt you're eating, and if it is a lot, for your sake, your tastebuds' sake, and for your heart's aake, go off almost all salt for two weeks, and try again. If still jothing, maybe you're unlucky. Ancient greeks would literally be awarded bay leafs for being the fittest in all the city states and they were thrilled.
