For me, it's the artichoke.

They're simply not worth the effort.
I don't dislike eating them but for all that hassle there really should be something more delicious in the middle.

The whole point is that they are fun to eat and you can have a long conversation with friends and family
Also different sauces are great it's a heathy way to eat butter

My mom would serve this to us as kids
Lot's of work peeling the petals to suck off a lil meat, dipping in butter helped getting to the heart which was good and tasty
we were poor I think she thought the longer it took us to eat the more our mind was off how hungry we were

>too much work
I've never understood this. Artichokes are one of the lowest effort foods in existence. Each bite already comes with its own utensil, and eating it is no more effort than eating chips and dip. They're also delicious.

Why is it called an artichoke if you are supposed to swallow it completely fine without respiratory complications?

>> No.19246163

More like fartichoke, amirite?

I had one for the first time a couple years ago, it was an interesting experience. Not like any other food. It wouldn't be worth it to me to get it in a can because the novelty of eating the petals was better than the food itself

I feel like artichokes is a bad use of field space.

Most canned/frozen shit is much worse quality than fresh, but it's still recognizable as the same ingredient. With artichoke hearts - even really nice marinated ones in a fancy imported jar - are nothing like eating a freshly cooked, whole artichoke. It's like comparing broccoli to brussels sprouts; they both come from the same plant, but are completely different.
