Omg worst thing when visiting Europe were the grocery stores. They are all in these tiny as fuck spaces, literally as big as a convenience store, except way more "aisles" that are under 1m wide. Literally only 1 person can pass through at any time.
And all their shit is strewn about randomly. No organization or categorization. If you want a drink, there is no cooler, you grab a warm bottle from a pastic covered palate on the floor.

Sometimes if I tuck the cart into a corner somewhere, it does end up blocking someone looking at that shit, but it's rare. It's still better than blocking passage for other carts by leaving it in the middle of the aisle. I only leave it for 30 seconds tops so it's rarely a serious inconvenience.

Sometimes aisles are just too narrow. Standing back and taking in the whole shelf until you need to go pick something up can be a good practice (so long as you look out for people who otherwise can't walk past).

You've just got to try and be considerate in general and keep a lookout for people you might be blocking.
