Is it overrated?

>> No.19024707

Yes frankly, lacks the fat content that steak requires to be truly tasty.

>> No.19024710

>>19024680
literal dog food

>> No.19024716

Yes. Though people are becoming more aware that it's boomercore and not fatty enough. It does have a place on the menu for being a lean, and still tender, option.

I fell for this meme too and bought a ribeye. Turns out you're a cooklet, tastlet, a faggot and a fatass

it's fine so long as it's part of a porterhouse, but on its own yeah

the meme is that you need fat content for the meat to be tasty. that just means you're a fatass. and if you do need some fat-just use an herb butter or bernaise to get that flavor

Yes. You gotta add fat to make it decent.

It's not the fat molecules themselves, otherwise drowning it in butter would work like you said. It's the fat tissue and its connective tissues that become crispy and delicious when fried

Ngl the dude sounds a lot more reasonable than you. There's a reason more and more chefs are preferring Ribeyes and prime ribs as the esteemed cuts these days.

I guess you're talking about here in america where everyone is fat. also the cut for a single ribeye is massive, i couldn't find anything less than 1lb whereas a filet is just how a steak should be 6-8oz.

>> No.19025135

It's a perfect steak for my grandparents on account of its tenderness and relatively small size.

There is no standard size for a ribeye steak. Like any other steak, it comes in whatever size you want. They can control the size by slicing thinner or just cutting it down.

Price wise, yes, its overrated. It's still my favotie cut of steak when put on par with any other (Ribeye comes close)

>> No.19027899

if filet is your favourite cut of beef, you are a tastelet of the highest order. meat could not be more boring if it tried. there's a reason chefs universally despise it.

>> No.19027909

>>19024680
it needs a bit of help such as a compound butter but calling it overrated seems excessive

>> No.19027930

Americans and their infantile obsession with marbling. They dont even realize theyve been marketed to. Yes the cheap cuts taste better when fatty, just like all the other trash in your unregulated hellhole is made appetizing with grease and sugar, so is your meat. Well, more of the good stuff for me. Do you think american muscle tissue is marbled? (Red, white and blue-rare)

>> No.19027957

and this is retarded and misleading
compare a filet mignon to a eye of round, both are lean with almost no marbling

I would say no but I got to eat a bunch of these at my last job for free so can't complain about that. Was seriously tasty and I'd eat it daily if I could. Yes I'd prefer it over any other meat not kidding. Could be because I know its a good quality cut idk but if cooked right you could eat it with just about anything on the side and it would be great.

There was this one time at my last job where the person who ordered one I think decided to go home instead of eat it so that was one time I got to eat it free. Didn't even get out of the kitchen obviously.

Do you like your steak bleu? Get a filet mignon and let it rest with butter. For rare a ribeye is better. And for medium rare like my dad likes get something with a bone like a t-bone. I'm sorry to tell you, but if you want to make good food you're going to have to use your fucking brain instead of relying on hot takes.

I think so. But it's preference, some people like lean cuts and don't appreciate the flavor of fat enough or hate the texture too much. Conversely the butter steaks are pretty overrated, too. A4/5 wagyu is awesome, but like a lot of delicacies I don't think they should be considered "the best."

>> No.19033201

IMO steak in general is overrated. Mongolian steak or any steak where you cut it into small strips so you can actually marinate every part of it instead of just the surface is infinitely superior.
