Does anyone use cannabis in their dishes? I might be able to get a lot of good flower and oil in the coming days and i am wondering if any any /ck/ denizens have any tips or advice.

If there is some merit to it, i want to maximize it.

I never got a buzz from edibles, I dunno why. Just smoke it and enjoy snacks instead.

I suffer from the inverse situation. I tried smoking quite a few times on different nights but nothing really happened. I thought I was just resistant to it, but one of my mates gave me one of those sour candied gummies and i was on my ass for hours.

If it's good weed you're wasting it using it to cook and you're probably going to fuck it up anyway even commercially produced edibles are wildly inconsistent.

I am a long-time stoner and have tried just about every method of consumption rich and poor. I'll go into a little more detail but the TL;DR is that edibles will always be about masking the cannabis not enhancing a dish

DO NOT use high quality herb for edibles. It is an absolute waste and no matter how hard you work they will taste like shit and be wildly different in dosage throughout. If you are going to use a vaporizer you can use the ABV to make some oil or butter later as a way to squeeze every bit of the THC out but don't expect it to taste good - mask it with heavy amounts of chocolate or peanut butter and strain that fucker multiple times through cheesecloth.

The oil you'll be getting is decarbed already and can be used as/for edibles which is much easier than making cannabutter and makes it easier to hide the taste as well.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of edible highs, but for those that do I recommend RSO over going to the trouble of trying to make something tasty.

Alot of the THC will be vaporized away when you cook it.

Note taken. Still, it sounds kind of strange. I know its quite different, by not being food at all but it feels strange to not use high quality ingredients. I will have to find some lower cost stuff.

>but don't expect it to taste good - mask it with heavy amounts of chocolate or peanut butter
Damn. I figured there was some kind of way to use its flavor/smell in a positive way. Thanks for telling me this now; I would have been massively disappointed.

Kind of the goal i suppose. I am the mind to use it for some late night dinners where I and others will go to sleep after maybe 2-3 hours tops.

>>18823947
I suspected this being the case. Is there a strict "At this temperature, you're just wasting weed" kind of deal or is it just heating at all? I have no issue with it, but adjusting to use it in cold dishes might be worthwhile.

>I know its quite different, by not being food at all but it feels strange to not use high quality ingredients.
The main difference is that the cannabis flower isn't what you're cooking with (and cooking with it would be awful) and the raw flower can't be ingested to get high. Any recipe for edibles begins with processing and refining the cannabis into a different product altogether.
The quality of ingredients going into any kind of refinement process is usually besides the point, as the process itself is meant to remove everything you don't want.

tl;dr you wouldn't make sausage out of wagyu

>Is there a strict "At this temperature, you're just wasting weed" kind of deal
There is both a general guideline and a strict temp
Above 250 you're risking breaking down a good chunk of the psychoactive components
Above 300 and it's destroyed

>>18823955
You need to heat the cannabinoids to about 240° Fahrenheit to activate the THC. But that's not really hot enough to cook anything. I would just take/make a THC oil, heat it to 240° for a the minimum amount of time, then add that to a dish after it's been cooked. I'm not an expert on the temperatures and times required to activate THC, so do your own research.

I see. Now I'm thinking what can I do with it cold. The first thing that comes to mind is some kind of bread spread (Straight up cannabutter?) or sauce.

Did you read the posts here? Cannabis tastes like fucking ass, and you want to spread cannabutter straight on a fucking toast?

Not by its lonesome, and certainly not in too large of a quantity. I probably could have worded it better but i meant more of a mayo/cannabutter spread for a burger or something.

Dude, it TASTES BAD. That's why it's always in chocolate or fudge or brownies or sour candy (that, and easy to manage/sell sizes.) You make bacon mayo because you like how bacon tastes. Weed tastes like wiping your crotch after a hard day of work in a steel mill and eating that. Do you want a steel mill ass swamp sandwich? I don't think so.

I infuse olive oil with cannabis.
I follow a guide to decarb weed in the InstantPot. I don't remember it but it's easy to find.
After the weed is decarbed I put it in olive oil and gently heat the olive oil container in a pot of water on the stove. Not boiling hot, maybe 60C for 1 or 2 hours.
After that I let the oil sit for a week or two. I let the nugs in the oil and I have a filter in the bottle to prevent the herbs from getting out that I bought on Amazon.

Once the oil is ready you can use it anywhere but I mainly use it in rice. When I cook rice or oatmeal in my rice cooker, I add a bit of infused oil at the beginning of the cooking. The rice cooker temperature is not high enough to destroy the cannabinoids. Makes infused rice. I don't add enough oil to influence the taste so it taste like normal rice.

bro just water cure the bud. Soak everything in water after decarb and all the vegetal notes will be dissolved in the water, I'm talking chlorophyll etc. I did this with ABV and I could barely taste anything in the final product
This is the way I do it
decarb - water cure - rinse in everclear - strain - mix THC everclear with table sugar & evaporate in tray
the result is edible hash and sugar all mixed together. I like to drop a spoonful into my tea or hot milk. There is no strong taste

I've heard about water curing but at that point you're reaching levels of effort I'm not willing to put in without getting paid, and even the oil/butter from a cured batch is going to have that taste in it.

Like I said, I'm not really a fan of edible highs to begin with. If I want to eat cannabis I'll just take some RSO

Yes, every edible I've ever had just tasted like weed and nothing like the food it was in. I'm not sure why retards are so obsessed with baking it into everything now. I rarely find someone who actually smokes anymore, everyone just makes edibles

This is a cooking board. If those steps are too much work for you, it's time to take tolerance break. BTW those steps are how you make RSO if you don't add sugar and don't decarb.

You're not talking about cooking, you're talking about refining a drug. I wouldn't make RSO either, it's cheaply available.

Yeah I replaced booze with commercial concentrate edibles and this is the biggest downside. It can be the same maker, same strain, same form of 1g edible hash oil, same food with it and whether it floors me or buzzes me is anyone's guess. Some producers and strains are better than others though.
