These chicken drumsticks were 88 cents a pound. I've always wondered how much of that price is bone. So today we're going to cook some and look at the weight after the meat is off the bone.

That's a bad experiment. Weight of meat always decreases after cooking. Better experiment is to debone the raw chicken then weigh the raw bones.

I would think the goal was to help comparison shop by being able to compare bone-in vs boneless meat.
So OP would be better off using breasts or thighs since you don't normally buy buy wings or drumsticks boneless.

State agricultural extension offices are your friends. Texas has you covered here.

Other states have references on growing local foods, yogurt making, etc. Very underrated resource, most of the employees there would be happy to get a call from a hobbyist.

Your PDF shows what I was saying all along.
You can't use OP's data to compare prices of bone-in vs boneless chicken parts because you can't tell the pre-cooked weight of the meat by weighing it after it's been cooked.

I'm not mad about chicken meat.
I'm not even mad.
I'm disappointed OP has produced such a useless experiment.
I'd rather live in a world where people were a little smarter.
OP's a disappointment, and proves that I live in a slightly stupider world than I thought I did.

p.s. I picked up the outdated "doge" lingo from the 4chins, and have never been to reddit.
Such wow.

OP may have a good point in that cooked meat weight is sometimes needed, but I think most caloric information is determined from raw weight. However, the cooked number is only going to be useful for that specific brand that specific season, because chicken diets can change to increase/decrease water retention.
Not saying you're wrong, only that OP is probably collecting data he can't put to use.
